I've had my N70 about a week or so and the back part that slides up and down wobbles side to side quite easily but it didn't when I first got the phone... Does this happen with everyone? Will it get worse and worse? Will I need a new cover or something?
Thanks 😊
Well i have had mine for 3 months plus AND ive changed covers a few times, which for me involved breaking the sliding cover apart to change thecolour of the slider, but alas, now im back witht he original cover, its not wobbly, maybe you just have a dodgy one, doubt you would get a replacement for just that though. You CAN buy new genuine Nokia silver/black or aubergine/cream cover sets if it gets too bad.
Hope this helps.
go to a shop with it and explain it, maybe it is warranty.
Mine is really firm, not wobbly at all but when I touch it or have the phone in my hands it makes some crack sounds. When this slider wouldn't be on the phone, it was really more solid. And my camera wouldn't open in my pocket.
Mine's not too wobbly but it does creak a lot when holding the phone, overall I think its the part of the phone that annoys me most and seems to be something quite a few people don't really like that much.
Has anyone succesfully taken the slider off the back of the panel and re-fitted it again because I fancy taking it apart and seeing if I can reduce the squaking, and Id also like to double up on the spring if possible because I find it slides open far too easily
Thanks for the words. I may look into a new cover... How do I take it apart to check its ok and possibly fit another spring like Locoblade?
Waste of time with the warranty tbh. I have it on an o2 online contract so the o2 shop (to my knowledge) won't deal with me. And I can't be bothered with sending the phone back, etc.
I think it may be the way I hold the phone.. I rest my index finger on the side of the sliding part and it must be pushing it to the side.. but it shouldn't be making the cover this loose!
For me this is the most annoying physical bit of the phone, it creaks, wobbles and makes a horrible tacky plastic sound when placed down on a surface, it really reduces the perceived quality of the phone.
I've been keeping my eyes open for a slide-less back cover, the slide is really not needed, the camera lens is a good millimeter or so recessed so it wouldn't get scratched without a cover, might get a bit dusty but who cares?! It would also make the phone 3mm thinner, a lot more attractive and remove the horrible creaking and other undesirable bits.
If someone were to produce a cover with no slide, just a smooth uniform back plate which kept the slide sensor switch in the 'open' position you would still be able to access the camera from the menu shortcut. I'd buy one, thats for sure.

theres instructions on how to take the back panel of this would give you your deserived cover. serach the forum
I have removed the slide from the back of my cover but unfortunately under the slide panel the rest of the the cover is 'unfinished' it doesn't have the same feel to it, and it has verious grooves and notches used to hold the slide mechanism in place, it neither looks nor feels good. Also, having the phone in this state means the slide is always 'closed' as it appears to the camera, so no photos can be taken.
It would have to be a specially made cover that holds the camera switch down.

Of course it's warranty!
How would feel if you've just discovered that the bonnet on your brand new Ferrari wobbles?
