hello all;
i have been going through the specs of the n91 and the n80 and i cant seem to find any difference other than the screen size, the memory and the infra red port, oh and the cam. but thats it. whats the catch? am i missing something? is the operator system exactly the same for both? other than the massive memory on the n91, will both 2 phones funtions exactly the same? and if so why are people all over the n80 and not the n91?
i cant seem to find any difference. id appreciate the help:redface:
i guess there would have to be some difference in the OS. they cant just be the same phone with only a couple of options to differentiate between the 2
The standard 3.5mm headphone connector, standard mini USB port, built-in Windows Media Audio (WMA) support + probably different music player app & better (headphone9 sound quality are also things that differentiate the N91.
People are all over the N80 presumably because it is much smaller & maybe the 3Mpix camera, too.

which would you prefer and why?
I've seen/handled both.
Personally, I think I'd take the N91. Even if it is a bit "bulkier", a 2Mix camera is enough, but I love the standard USB and headset connector instead of Pop-Port. Also, since my daughter has "appropriated" my 6GB iPod mini, the 4GB of music storage of N91 would be a good compromise, and no compromise in terms of sound quality + one device less to carry around & keep charged.
Compromised battery life maybe? Thinking of the i300 as an example........
Does the n91 have wireless networking as well as the n80?

Yes the n91 does have Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. And since N/A recommends the n91, that holds a lot of weight with me, I might just grab an n91 when they come out and sell my n70! Although my n70 is incredible, I wish it had wi-fi.
Like N/A said, the 4gb of built-in memory sounds very nice, room for enough music and videos, so don't discount this when calculating dollar value.
Crap, that sounds like a phone I might be able to keep for more than 6 months.
the only problem i have with the n91 as opposed to the n80 is the screen size. the screen of the n80 is absolutely marvelous, and large. the n91 has a really really small screen 176x208 for a phone with all of those features. i mean if i have a device this powerful i might as well enjoy the rich features it has on a much nicer screen like the n80 has. im literally torn between the 2 devices i cant seem to pick one. i mean ive never seen the screen in real life but reading the specs, it seems big, really big. although i dont know how would it compare to the n91s screen in reall ife. damn nokia. couldnt they just give it to us. did they have to have it eat in our heads. i cant choose one.
Aren't you guys all missing the critical thing which sets the N80 apart?
Hello???
UPNP!!!!!!
UPnP isn't that useful, if you haven't other UPnP devices in your home to communicate with. That'll change eventually, but for most people today I doubt UPnP is a key feature.

got to be honest, I listen to my music, I dont tend to watch the seconds go by on the screen.
actually according to Rafe, the screen on the N91 is quite allright...infact he said for watching videos it it pretty good. Also I'd just like to note for ppl who may not know it yet...the N91 screen is not ACTUALLY smaller then the N80's. The physical size is the same...but the amount of pixels within that physical frame is whats different
Here's the thing you need to understand about screen sizes with the 3rd Edition devices. The resolution does not dictate the physical screen size. The N91 is roughly the same as the N80 in Physical dimenions (possibly a bit small). However the N80 has much higher pixel density. As a result the N80 screen does look sharper. However most of the Video you watch on a phone is at a relatievly low resolution so the lower resolution screen doesn't matter than much. (There is, possibly, a difference at higher resolutions).
I find the N70 great for watching the odd video, the same applies to the N91. The N80 is nice too, but for me the limit is their physical screen size (there's onyl so long I can watch something that small).
I do think that that the higher resolution screens are better (especially with certain functions like the web browser). But it is worth saying that the N91 is no worse than the N70 - if anything thanks to some refinement in 3rd Edition it is better. The N80 does have a nicer screen. Yes the N91 would have been nicer with a high res screen (generally the more of such things is always better), but given the device's target niche I don't think it is a big deal.
That said I might change my mind when I've used a high resolution screen for more than a few hours... I think if you moved up you wont want to move back, but you wont notice if you don't move up (if that makes sense)...
Watch out for my N91 impression article next week.
