Hello Everyone,
I am new here & I just got a Nokia N70 few days back.
But I am facing a peculiar problem in my phone.
I cant find any option to change the Contacts sort settings.
In my previous phone there was option to sort contacts by "First Name" first, but I cant find that option anywhere in my N70 :frown: and the contacts are by default sorted by "Last Name" first 😡
my firmware is:
V 3.0546.2.3
18-11-05
RM-84
Can anyone here help me? 😊
Also even when the cell info display is on, the info just comes on the screen for a few seconds and then vanishes.......is there any way by which it will remain there permanently?
The first/last name setting isn't under "Options > Settings" in the "Contacts" app (main view/list) on your phone?
As to the cell info display, I don't know (my operator doesn't use it, so I never have it enabled anyway). Do you have "Active standby" turned off or on? If on, try turning it off (in the "Settings" app under "Tools" in the main menu).
in contacts app..........there is no settings option there :frown:
in my 6600 & 7610 it was there..........but i dont understand why its not there in N70
and after i turned the active standby off, the cell info display remain 😊 thanks for that 😊 😊
but this first name things is bugging me.
In contacts app when i click on options i get the following things:
Open
Call
Creat Message
new Contact
open conversation
edit
delete
duplicate
mark/unmark
copy
SIM contacts
send
Memory details
Synchr. Contacts
help
exit

On my factory unlocked unbranded n70 I have the "Settings" option just above the help.
Is this another "feature" of a branded n70?

My Orange branded N70 handset also has the 'settings' option just above 'help' in the Contacts options. If I go into settings then there is only one item: 'Name display' with two choices, 'first name first' or 'last name first'.

mine is not branded.
i purchased mine from local market without any sim.
try getting it flashed again or a hard reset

can anyone tell me how to do a hard reset?
by doing it will my softwares & data (phonebook) get deleted?
also if i get teh phone flashed............will all my data & programmes get deleted?

You will lose all data!! phone contacts/calendar entries/programs stored on phone/ringtones/pics etc.
For a soft reset type *#7370# at the standby screen, or for a hard reset,
Power off the phone, then switch the phone back on but hold down 3 keys whilst you switch back on, you may want to rest the phone on the table to do this to make it easier. The 3 keys that need to be pressed simultaneously are:
[Green, pick up call] + [3, def] + [*+]

Yes.
Any data stored on the phone (Note: phone!!) memory will get erased. Anything stored on the MMC card or your SIM card will be left alone. So you can try to back up as much as possible to the memory card before performing a hard reset or before taking your phone in to get re-flashed with updated firmware.

Mine don't have as well. Unbranded.. funnie.. but i have no problem. cos' i only put in the name (full name) under 'Last Name'. =P
This is weird. I used to have that problem too when I'm still on firmware 2.0539 I think. But once I upgraded it to 3.0546.2.3, the option appears. Maybe you should reflash it

My firmware is 2.0539 and I have that option.
I did a soft and hard reset both.
but still i dotn find any option for sorting contacts :frown:

yeah like einstien said your only solution is it to try & get it flashed by a service centre
yeah i will be visiting a NSC for a flash upgrade
i checked my friends phone also.

is it a recurring problem in handsets sold in India?
Mine came unbranded but with Chinese/English support with the latest firmware (3.0546.2.3) but no 'settings' to sort by first name.
