Another N70 Bug?

12 replies · 2,229 views · Started 15 February 2006

I have found a very annoying problem on my N70.

If you receive a text from someone not in your phonebook - and you then add the senders number into your contacts - their name is still not displayed in list of messages in the inbox, just their number. I have come across this problem in previous nokia models, I cant believe now the N70 has it.

Has anyone else got this problem? Thanks.

Kam.

i must say i've also got the same bug, but my firmware is unchanged

have you got the latest firmware?

Yep, no sure if this can be classed as a 'bug' as such but yeah, all N70s do this, and yes, it's really annoying.

Yes, the firmware is 3.0546.2.3

Does any phone do this? It would require rechecking all of the SMS messages to assign a new contact. The contact is assigned when the message arrives isn't it?

This isn't entirely true, as a software developer I would simply have the phone check any orphaned messages against the phone book when the inbox was opened, this is hardly a massive operation, it happens everytime you receive a call.

Maybe true Seb, but I have never seen a phone that does it.

This is something I have experienced on my previous Symbian S60 phones,
Nokia 6600, 7610, Sendo X.. But they fixed it as far as I car remember..

This actually did work on one of my previous firmwares for the N70, but on
this latest one it does not work.

The same issue is present in the caller list. If you receive a call from an unknown
number, then adds it to the adress book, the list will not update with latest firmware.

with the first firmware I am sure it did update..

3.0546.2.3

Although not symbian, my existing Sony Z800 and T630 both do this.

Cool, matt. Windows Mobiles don't display either so it seems it is a problem that afflicts 'smart'phones. Hmmmmm.
