Hey guys,
i have got one N70 from 02-UK but it is extremely slow. It takes almost 10 seconds to show the menu and additional 5-10 seconds to open folders (i.e. Tools, Games, etc). Not to mention Gallery which takes almost 30 seconds to open and show properly the thumbnails.
Do you have any idea why the phone is so slow and how can i fix this??
I am thinking of a hard reset....will this correct anything?
P.S I have the latest firmware V.3.0546.2.3
Thanks in advanced.
What applications do you have open? hold the menu button till the "task manager" comes up, and close everything apart from telephone. Go into call log settings and reduced from 10 days to 1 day, this speeds things up, what size mem card do you have and how full is it? this effects gallery opening.
Just a few things to get you started, im sure others will add their advice.
I have to disagree with you and I ask you to please follow the advise that Stokie gave you, I have your same firmware and my phone to open the menu just takes a half second and to open other applications just takes 2 or 3 seconds, I think that maybe if you reduce your log duration to 1 day, it could be faster, I have to tell you that I have an unbranded phone with the last firmware and 1 GB rs mmc and is the fastest I have had. Try what Stokie said.
Guys, no other application than the telephone is open. And still is too slow.
I am trying to find the log settings but i can't. Can you guide me please to do it.
BTW i have the original 64Mb mem card that came with the phone.
Thank you.
1.- Go to menu
2.- then go to log
3.- press options
4.- Scroll down and press settings
5.- highlight log duration and press options
6.- highlight change and press select
7.- highight "1 day" and press OK
8.- now you are ready
Regards
Thanks vjleon11.
I have done as you all instructed but the phone is still slow.!!!
What do you recommend?
Hmm,
Maybe a hard reset is the way to go, and then change the log settings again, if that doesnt sort it, go to the place you brought the phone from and ask to have a look at another, so that you can judge if its your phone thats slow, or the general symbian OS is too slow for you, if its the former, ask for a different phone or a repair, if its the latter, then a smartphone isnt for you.
No i believe that the problem is the phone.
I previously had a 6680 which was way too fast than my current N70.
Probably i will take it tomorrow to the shop where i bought it from, and let's hope that they will do something for me.
Thank you.

halloooo..try the nokia code.. remove your memory card and dial *#7370# then press yes..it will reformat your phone it just like you buy new one all the settings and original programs reset..maybe one of the problem is that you install old applications which is not compatible with N70..be advice also to reformat your memory card if the problem still thesame..hope it works😊

Hello all!
Please tell me what brand of MMC (512 MB or 1 GB) is recomanded for my new N70? Kingston, ATP or Transcend?
peaple have problems wiv kingston so stay away from them
I've a Kingston 512 RS-DV-MMC and it's fine for me...plus lifetime warranty...for 22.99 including P&P.
Jon
I have bought 1 Gb MMC two weeks back and so far its good. It didn't slow down my N70. The brand is Microsim & has a lifetime warranty.
My n70 has slowed down by just a 'little bit since the day i got Samsung 1gb.
My phone is a little poky but only with opening the Gallery and Camera. But everything else is pretty fast.
I am using an ATP 512 mobileMMC card. It works fantastic and hasn't slowed anything down... or sped anything up... but it awesome.
no prob with kingston so its safe to use kingston..im using 512:icon14:
my n70 of V5.0616.2.0.3
it takes 5 sec during opening application.
for mini opera it takes more then 5sec to open and 10sec to close.
theme preview takes about 20 sec to open and 40 sec to close.
gallary also takes more time then expected.
it was not like this at some days ago.
mmc is 1GB.
how can i fast my N70.
Thanks .
I have a N70-5, with firmware 5.0634.2.6.1 RM-99 with a card of 512mb.
I have seen that my mobile is very slow when I am playing a game.
Do you have the same problem???

Same on me, but only for Java games.
Yes, only with Java Games.
With the games that the N70 have, like a Snakes, the phone does not run slowly, but with Real Football 3D is run too slow.
I think is has something to do with all the Java apps. The new Yahoo Go works also like in replay mode. It sucks but the good thing is that I kept the old Symbian version.
How many Text Messages do u have in your inbox ?
I had about 1000 once and realised that it woz slowing my phone down coinsiderably. Deleted em all and the phone speeded up loads !
I'm using a 4 gig Transcend card that i bought for just under 30 - works a treat. 😊
Are you sure that N70 supports 4GB?? I only knew about 2GB. I have around 140-150 SMS and about 25 emails. Java apps are woking like hell even if I completely format the bastard.
Definitely a 4 gig card by Transcend.
Been using it for about a week now with no problems. 😉
That's weird, because Nokia says that N70 supports only 2GB.
