bookmark has no address - Opera browser 9300

Hi,

I've recently got a problem with my browser in that when you try to go to a web address, a message 'bookmark has no address' appears at the top and the page doesn't load. On exiting the browser, a message box says

:icon4: note
system: Unexpected end of file

The internet is working as I can load the nokia page from starting up and then click on links from there which will download fine. Is there a way of fixing or reinstalling the browser?

Thanks for your help.

Hmm, seems like file corruption somewhere within the Web app. I'd suggest deleting the INI file (C:\System\Data\Opera), but I'm unsure if that will erase your bookmarks, so you may want to make a copy of your Bookmarks file (C:\System\Apps\Opera\Bookmarks).

Hi, thanks for your reply,

I tried everything trying to get it work without success, then without doing anything more, it's started working properly again by itself!

I was thinking it was file corruption, if it happens again, is there any way of reinstalling the original software/firmware that comes with the phone? As you will know, Opera's own site doesn't provide a download for this phone. I read about a factory reset/format on another thread, does this restore all programs that are embedded in phone?

Just briefly on another subject, I am on 02 network in UK, I only get about 32kbit/s download rate. Is this normal? What is the 9300 capable of? I've tried getting settings various times hoping for updates but always get same ones. Internet is 02 GPRS - should there be an EGPRS connection available?

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi,

Deleting the INI file usually resolves the error you reported. The INI file will be recreated (fresh) when you then restart the app in question.

Formatting will recreate the system and bring it back to the state it was when you first bought the phone. You don't have to reinstall any of the default apps.

As far as I know there is no EDGE (EGPRS) support in the UK, so your transfer speed seems normal on a regular GPRS network.
