I have a nokia 3230. The problem is tht its screen has started to flicker...and the flicker is now so heavy tht the upper display where time is shown keeps on jumping and is seen below.
Can anyone tell me it is a software problem or a hardware issue (screen needs to be replaced)?

Try to run ur phone with Safe Mode (hold the pencil key while booting), with or w/o MMC.
Try to scan for virus.
Try to uninstall latest apps installed.
Format Phone with Soft Format or Hard Format. Don't Forget!!! to backup ur phone (Contacts, Notes, important Msg, etc) b4 doing a format:
Soft Format:
1. Type *#7370# at ur phone.
2. Enter the phone code.
3. Phone will be restart.
4. Wait for a while untill ur phone
finished for formating ur phone memory and turn on.
Hard Format:
1. Make sure you have at least 3/4 charge of battery power left.
2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card.
3. Switch-off your phone.
4. Press and hold 3 keys; Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on keypad and then press the power on/off to swtich on the 6600 phone.
Remember, do not let go the 3 press and hold keys until you see a formatting word screen show!
5. After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your 6600 will back to original system and factory settting.
However if u have some hardware problem there is no trick which can help u, nearest SC is the only solution in that case...

Try to upgrade the firmware.

Holding the pencil key while booting didnt do any better for me. Any clues as to if it works for 3230?
Try install SysMan or KeyLocker (SymbianWare). Turn them on and set autorun. If the app didn't running while u in safe mode, then u're in safe mode.
I think u've a H/W problem. Take it to nearest NSC 😊

I have a nokia 3230.I was having problems with my blue tooth. Some times when try to switch on the bluetooh it gives a msg 'bluetooth operation can not be performed,my phone even crashes multiplke times .I tried the soft and hard format but i didnt work on my cell.Any other tricks to format the phone.
If u've another application (windows) that requires ur BT connection, u should close it 1st. Most worked is by restarting the windows but I ever heard that the problem is not because of the phone or PC, but the hard disk. Try to reinstall nokia PC Suite or Windows.
thanks a lot for the soft format support it was really working good..
Don't thanks to me . Thanks to god 😊

What is the difference between Soft and Hard format?
And this procedures works for N70?
Soft Format, usually for the phone that can still turn on. We still can type a code, at least *#7370#.
Hard Format, usually for the dead phone or WSOD (White Screen Of Death). The phone won't turn on or only Nokia logo showed up then turn of. Hard reset only available for the phone SymbianOS 7 and after (Nokia 6600 and after). Symbian OS 6, such as 7650/3650/3660/n-Gage , hard format not available.
Hello rulirahm,
I've been knowing about the Soft Format, and been trying it ever since, I had n6600. I was thrilled to read the Hard Format procedure, but couldn't make it work. Any insights? Yes, I tried it a couple of times.
I have same problem with my 3230. how to remove the flicker?
I just read the thread about the problems. I bought a used (ebay) N80 originally from Hong Kong about 4 months ago. It was working fine for me and syncing well. A few days ago, the screen started to go white whenever I slid it. If I work in the blind, I can use the phone, but what an inconvenience. Is it hardware or software. I have a 1 gig minicard that has over 800 mgs of space. What do I do, help. lazer18
It looks like your ribbon is damaged. Take it to a service.
