Nokia N70 Unlocking from 3?

Hello all

I'm happy and proud to say I am now a owner of a Nokia N70 😉 after being stuck with my Sony Ericsson K700i for ages after my Nokia 6600 decided to die on me :frown: anyways I got my N70 today from a seller off of Ebay but its currently locked to the 3 network I was hoping to get it unlocked to Virgin and not use all the 3G stuff on the phone but just as a fancy smartphone.

Is it possible to get it unlocked?

I have read that on a few networks you can ring up the service providers and ask for it to be unlocked but does anyone know if this is possible with the 3 network?

Thanks in advance 😎

I'm fairly sure that as a crime prevention effort they will not give you the network unlock code for a phone unless you have a contract with them, or at least some kind of account, so they can verify who you are.
I'm not 100% on '3's policy, but you may be able to get around it by buying a '3' pay as you go SIM card then calling up Customer Services saying you want your unlock code, they will usually charge you a small amount for this though.

Slight problem may be that '3' don't currently offer the N70 on PayG, it'll depend on how quick witted the person you speak to is, and how convincing and persuasive you are on the phone!

Seb is correct, on all but one point, with "3" the charge is emormous! They quoted me 250 for unlock code for my contract n70!!

Vodafone seem to charge 20, T-Mobile 15 but friggin 3 is 250, maybe will be different on PAYG, but i doubt it.

Sorry to be bearer of bad news.

The phone came with a ThreePay SIM pack I guess thats a pay as you go SIM? The SIM works fine in the phone I can recive calls and texts but can't call out because of no credit (I think) but normally with pay as you go SIMs they have some credit already on like £5? or is it because 3 are tight fisted?

If I call up customer service what do I say??

Cheers

I would try and just explain your situation as best you can, big the network up and try and get a good repatoir going with the geeza on the other end. I got mine unlocked with T-Mob 15 but it seems 3 are very expensive. Only other option is to use PAYG until remote unlocking available. Go for it, what ya got to loose!!!!!!😮 :icon14:

3 Dont supply credit with their SIMs you need to top up first. I honestly think you are stuck with 3 PAYG until an unlocking solution become available other than through the Networks. But you can always phone 3 and ask them the cost of getting an unlock code, although due to the fact that the n70 isnt anywhere near being released on PAYG yet, due to the cost of the handset, its obvious that it is a 3 contract phone that you are using with a seperate PAYG SIM, so im 99.9% sure you will get no joy.

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum (heard about it from a friend)😎 and would really appreciate it if any one can help me with the unlock code for my Nokia N70 which is currently locked to 3 network.

Thanks in advance.:icon14:

Huh?
Everything you're looking for is in the previous posts.

I also bought from Ebay, but my 3 sim came with £30 credit on it.

True I found out too late that at the moment We cant unlock the N70 (will come in time, and there are apparantly people unlocking in the Middle East & Croasia already?), but dealing with 3 as opposed to Orange has been a joy so far.

It's easy to add credit & text bundles online & they also give a bonus for every call & text the handset accepts. So far I'm finding it alot cheaper to use than my Orange monthly phone.

i purchased a sim loked phone to 3 from uk but i live in the states and would like to use the phone on the cingular network. does any1 know if I can do this? thanks.
