Text Issue on N70

Hi All,

my only previous posts have been regarding my testing of Tom Tom mobile 5.2 on N70 but this one is just to ask what seems very simple but something the N70 appears unable to do...

When sending a text to someone, say they are asking for a number from you, how on earth do you insert a number from your N70 contacts list...???

Now I'm no novice user, my first mobile was a Red LED screen Motorola Flip in 1991 (been NOKIA through and through ever since I hasten to add) but as far as I can see there is no way of doing this, which I'm staggered at since all my previous Nokia's could insert a number from phone book / contacts straight into an SMS.

I hope I'm missing something very simple but the only Insert option I seem to have is to insert a Template..??? Maybe I can switch on further options and hope someone can shed some light.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as today I have had 3 text's from friends all over the world all asking for numbers I have and sadly I have been forced to save my text as a draft then go into my contacts, write down the number then manually add it into the saved draft - which for a business Smartphone like the N70 is seems very very odd.

Regards in advance.

Nick

You can go into contacts, select the number u want, click use number then copy.

Exit contacts and open up a new message, enter the recipient then click the button with the pencil on it & select paste it will add the number u copied from contacts

Slim,

thanks for that - its a work around but in comparision to how you can insert contacts directly into an SMS on other Nokia's its very, very complicated and about a dozen clicks more than on my old 6230i, shame really.

It still means exiting a message which has to be saved as a draft as opposed to inserting directly into the SMS - very un Nokia like, ho hum.

Cheers

Nick

i think the rationale could be because for S60 phones, they can multi-task. thus, you can go to another application without terminate the initial one and press 'Menu' button to scroll back to the earlier application.

what can be done:

1) type a text message
2) press 'menu' and scroll to/select your 'Contact'
3) select the person, press 'Option' and select 'Open'
4) then press 'Option' and select 'Use number'. select 'copy'
5) press 'menu' and scroll back to 'Messaging'
6) press the 'pen' button (can't remember what's it call) and select 'paste'.

not too bad.. a few more steps only.

Thanks Sian,

thats a bit better, although still fairly awkard in comparision to just pressing insert then pressing contact then finding the number you need and pressing use, but hey ho the N70 is far far better than my 6230i so guess will just have to get used to it.
