😃 This appl remind me on NT or win2k 's task manager.... Ctrl+Alt+del

There is another appl similar to this one... called Switcher, works the same as Memory Monitor 😉

yes he have, but he like more to use the Infra-eye,for longer standby-reasons... 😉

The Task-switcher is really bugy, thats what i think about.
The memory-mon.is much more stable...

Smi and still his :robot:

THANKS to you thegrey 😉

Thank you 😃 😃

Eeerrr...Do you guys find something Funny...Before install this software i got a total Memory 3600KB ...After install this software and i click Compress Heaps and now i got Total of 4092KB ...Thos software really dam power man 😃 😃

can someone please attached the file for memory monitor (free or trial or demo)? I tried getting it in http://my-symbian.com/7650/download/search.php?name=Memory%20Monitor from this page, but I can't 😞

thank you in advance.

when u compress the heaps, what will happen? do you have to uncompress or unpack for the app to be fucntional? i dont quite get it... :-?
The RAM referring to which Drive? C: D: or Z: ???
Exactly 😮 I dont think its C: since it does'nt tally with the App Manager

😮nfire: hmmmmm... perhaps it's a total memory space? What you all think?

Eerr...Can compress But can't uncompress it ...the main things is that i got total of 4092 FREE Memory 😃

I think the RAM is just RAM, not any of the "drives" in 7650 but
the "working" Random Access Memory where the programs are run in.

Those "Drives" are flash memory drives, where the program execution
would be _really_ slow.

i cant understand this program,my memory is still the same so whats so useful about the program, can someone answer to this question????

Its usefullness is mainly to programmers, so they can see the the
processes and memory consumption etc.

so what's the point if this is the case??? how do you unpack??? :-?

Selecting "compress heaps" just tells the system to reorganise its memory so that there's less wasted space. It doesn't need to be uncompressed. Also, as JyriK says, the app just deals with RAM space, not flash space.

nothing different with the switcher app when doing the compress memory

both apps cannot restore the RAM to the original state in the other words it just restore some of the RAM but maybe the only way os to restart the phone 😃 😃 😃

I am pleased you find the program useful. If you think I need to add anything to it, please say and I will see what I can do (alas I no longer have a Series 60 device to test on though 😞

- Memory is allocated off the global heap and mapped to a process in chunks. eg: a user may request 580KB of RAM, and 600KB of RAM may be allocated to the thread of which just 580KB is used. This is quite normal, however as you can see more memory has been allocated than hasbeen used. To free any spare memory on a heap (thats available at the top address range of the heap) use the Compress Heaps functionality. You may find that several hundred KB are freed using this.

- Memory gets fragmented over time. When you boot your device you may have 4MB of free RAM wil all programs closed. 2 weeks later you may have 3MB of free RAM when the device is in a similar state. Memory likes to get allocated in big preferably contigious chunks. As memory gets allocated and freed (at different times and not in order) over time sometimes there is memory that is free, but cannot be reached due to constraints of the chunk size/MMU. If there was a way to unload all the applications, engines and servers and reload them, then all the memory would be able to be re-allocated in an efficient manner and you would be able to get the full amount of RAM once again, but unfortunately this is not the case, so over time the amount of free memory available will decrease (until the next reboot).
The function "Close All Programs" unloads all the apps and servers which would normally get closed down during a backup and freeing up a lot of memory (useful for running Doom 😉 ), however once you select the option again to reload those same programs, they will reload and allocate memory in a non fragmented more efficient manner.

The Kill thread is a bit like the task manager on WinNT which allows you to kill off Apps or threads, and the Spy functionality is useful for too see whether an app is behaving itself or not.

I am pleased you find the program useful. If you think I need to add anything to it, please say and I will see what I can do

What I would like to see is Exit on right software button.. It has quite many options in Options list and when I want to exit I have to scroll down 8 times before I reach the Exit..

Best regards,
Teemu Moilanen

Strange thing....
When I was trying install the app through PC it said "File uncompatible..." and couldn't install.
When I sended the file to the phone I was aple to install it.

Re: the exit button
Actually on my original release I did have the exit button on the right hand side, but when I was testing the 7650 I kept on pressing it by accident and losing the history of what I was testing (which ended up being very frustrating. In the end I removed it to stop myself doing that 😊 Actually, my original idea for Memory Monitor was a program which would run continuously in the background and rarely be closed. Therefore unless others find it annoying I might just leave it on the menu.

re: Installation
I have not had trouble with installing it using PC Suite, even though it has been a long time since I have used it. Normally I just sent it via IR or BT to the phone.
