Balancing the needs of high resolution, for later printing, and low/mid resolution and quality, for photo-blogging over an expensive GPRS connection, has always been a real head scratcher. Steve's been reviewing a new utility, PhotoFix, which claims to solve the problem once and for all.

Hi
I've not posted before, but on my N70 if you open the image in Gallery, choose Options, Edit, Options, Apply Effect, Resize (middle row, right hand most icon), you get a vertical slider bar on the screen. If you scroll down with the joypad the size reduces (it shows you the size). You can then save the new image (it renames it for you).
Hope this helps (and saves you some memory)
Derek
Aha. That looks like a Feature Pack 3 enhancement! Well spotted. I should have an N70 myself in a couple of days, so I'll have a play.
In the meantime, PhotoFix does the job for the rest of the S60 world 8-)

Steve:
As E61 (and the whole E-series) seems to be delayed to 2Q2006 and I have to get a cheap phone for next couple of months... You mentioned in your review that N6630 and N6680 are quite RAM challenged devices. How much do they get free RAM after boot?? Do you get more on N6630 than N6680? I've been spoiled with N-Gages 11,5MB RAM and I like to run Papyrus, ProfiMail, Opera and Headline 24/7 without any problems. Am I facing problems if I buy for example the cheap 6630??

The 6630 usually has about 9MB free, the 6680 maybe 8MB if you're lucky.

That doesn't look too bad... I have about 4MB free at the moment and my phone has been running my 4 favorite apps since yesterday. So I try to hunt a cheap second hand N6630 or if I can't the new ones are about 260 euros (inc. VAT) sim free.
