The dialog mention in test CON-02

2 replies · 0 views · Started 08 March 2006

Hi,

In test criteria CON-02 for V9.0 application, it requires Privacy Statement
Dialog. This dialog has title, readonly text and checkbox. I cannot find a
dialog like it in SDK document. Anyone has experience to make this dialog?
Any example?

Thanks
Wah

Hi

I can't find any formal definition, but an intermediate draft of the test
criteria had the following best-practice notes.

The dialog box is meant to be a simple, user-intelligible statement which
discloses which of the more sensitive services your product uses. It is
suggested you use a dialog with a title and read-only edit box (i.e. which
displays free text over multiple lines) and finally a checkbox (or
appropriate equivalent for the UI in question).

You should delete the items from the list below which do not apply to your
product. You can add extra information if you feel it is beneficial (for
example: "Sending SMS messages to contacts you select yourself" or "Sending
one SMS per month as payment should you wish to purchase this application"😉.

TITLE: Privacy Statement
BODY: For your information, this application will make use of the following
features of your phone. If you have any questions or concerns, please
contact us at <provide e-mail address>:

Bluetooth to connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices
 Sending SMS messages
 Sending MMS messages
 Making phone calls
Making a connection to the Internet
Allowing you to add or edit contacts
Reading existing information from your contacts database
Recording sounds using your phone's microphone

TICKBOX: Do not show me this information again

I'll see if I can get this confirmed - but something along these lines will
certainly not be failed.

Regards
Hamish

I didnt look hard enough - the best practice notes are in page 18 of the
latest spec (2.1.0) immediately following the CON-02 description.
They are basically as I've written, except the suggested title is "For Your
Information" rather than the *somewhat threatening* "Privacy statement"
