hello all.

im just wondering if anyone could suggest some FREE software to convert and compress DVDs in order to watch them on my N6680? i converted some music viseos from my pc using the software on the nok pc suite supplied with the phone but the sound is real bad and the picture hard to mae out. I have seen some software on the internet but these are expensive. 😊
Thanks

There is some software called ffmpegx, which compresses large video files. YOu need to have these already on your pc, so will need some toerh softwarre to rip the dvd first.

ffmpegx then gives you a whole heap of settings to compress your dvd filesinto much samller files, so you can fit them onto a memory card. I did have some 'automatic' settings somehwere, which I got from the Estato forums.

As I'm not that up on frame rates, sound and video and file formats, it did take me while to get it to the right settings, so perhaps not the easiest to use, but it is free to download.

It can but most software (free ones 😉 ) wont make the screen size small enough on the converted mp4 video files.
If anybody knows a free software download please post :icon14:

Use Nokia's free Multimedia Converter 2.0

and use the Wideband sound option, with picture at 128kbps. You'll get FAR better results!
