Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone knows a good place to get a reasonably priced 512 mb or 1 gb reduced size, dual voltage multimedia card (rs dv mmc) for the nokia n70?
I have looked around but every place I talk to either don't sell them, don't know what they are, think they are the same as single voltage ones or are extremely high priced.
I really can't believe that a person who sells them doesn't know what they are!! I asked one chick at a shop if they stocked them, she then looked at me strangely and shook her head, I then had a look around and they were in one of the cabinets!!

I got my MMC for my N70 from eBay, from a super reliable seller, bought one day - it arrived the next and works perfectly, prices are good too a 512mb is about �25 and a 1gb is �40 - they are Kingston Cards too - not dodgy unbranded ones.

I got a Kingston card aswell from eBay, it's not from Kingston brand but it is a Kingston card(I know it because the card's name was Kingston). It is 1GB and they call it RS MMC Mobile (where the mobile stands for the Dual Voltage they told me)

RS DV MMC (Reduced Size Dual Voltage MultiMedia Card) is the abbreviated name for the cards which work in Nokia N70, as long as thats what anyone buys they will work in an N70.
The brand isn't overly relevant, altho I always opt for Kingston Ram when adding memory to a computer as I've found them to be bombproof...
The seller I posted a link to has been the cheapest UK based for Kingston cards I could find, and they are double quick at posting too.
Kingston is one of the slowest cards out there. IMHO they are not very reliable as I've purchased 4 Adata cards, 2 ATP cards, and 3 Kingston cards.
Of the cards one Adata card went bad after 3 months but all three Kingston cards failed within 1 year and the Kingston cards slowed my phone down noticebly.
ATP is the fastest 1gb card period.

Interesting as I have a ATP 512mb and a Kingston 1gb and notice no discernable difference in their respective speeds...
Horses for courses as ever - but in the last 16 years of using Kingston branded RAM in around 6 different High End Apple Mac systems I have not had a single failure.
Also my last regular size MMC was a Kingston and never failed in 2 years worth of use in a 6230.
Research the the transfer rates of ATP and Kingston.
Facts are facts, the ATP, if I recall correctly was like 5x faster transfer rates.
ATP is the fasted 1gb card to date.

My comments are based on my personal experiences, as indeed are yours, so in this instance we will have to agree to disagree.
And having just checked the official Kingston and ATP sites they quote Kingston as upto 8mb per sec READ/WRITE and ATP at upto 20mb per sec, the crucial word there is UPTO.
Thats not the 5 x speed you quote, as with all these things, statistics are merely numbers and its how they perform n the real world and I have NO issues at all with Kingston speed vs ATP in my own comparision.
Its a bit like how a mk 1 Golf GTI feels faster than a new mk 5 one, its figures state its most definitely not but it certainly doesn't feel slow.

I and many others have a Kingston card and it keeps on working, had in my 6600 a 512Mb and it still works, now I have a 1GB in my N70 and works perfectly aswell, I have a 2gb kingston Compact Flash for my iPaq PDA and works great. Speed is good as well, my N70 without card is as fast as with my card inserted
I have looked at a few on ebay, Im from Australia so I coudnt get that one you posted before. I'm always wary on buying items from overseas, thanx for your help, so Kingston is recommended??
