Guys today i did some changes which drastically increased phone speed. u can try too.
1. Firstly i read somewhere that reducing log speeds up phone, i changed tat setting to "no log" (Dont know how true it is)
2. I have a 512 MB card and was highly fragmented, i defragmented it using card reader. (I think this was the reason for drastic improvement in speed)
3. I removed antivirus from the phone. i took a risk, m not going to install it again.....because i dont transfer files from other phones, i transfer from PC only after scanning....so no point having antivirus in phone....thats my thought.....but i insist u still keep it in phone.
4. To speed up camera operations i changed d option "Show captured image" to "No"
5. Dont keep any thing in phone memory it should be totally free. No picture message no sms nothing.....i think that also improves phone speed (not very sure about that)
6. Keep in mind to always close all applications properly otherwise they keep running in background. you can c application running in background by pressing menu button for some time.
7. Also try to avoid applications like blacklist, call recorder etc which keep running in background.
few steps i took.....if u know of any other steps which can improve speed do share with us.
Also avoid from installling applications that will autostart if phone start/restart or at least avoid its setting to run automatically.
If U set the log level to zero, U wont be able to know who had called U when U get a "1 missed call" displaying on ur mobile 🙄
I read somewhere if you press the C or Pencil key when you turn on the phone its meant to do a kind of safe startup to avoid issues with broken programs that screw up on autostarting. I cant confirm if this works or if its bull, if anyone wants to give it a try who has auto programs then please do and post, if it does work then its usefull to know for anyone with booting issues.
Duke.
Try SysMan or KeyLocker (SymbianWare.com). Set them to run automatically (activate = ON). It's the pencil key that u must hold while booting.
Now, while in 'normal mode', if u press and hold the 'menu' key, sysman will run or the hot keys that u've been set in keylocker, after pressing it, keyloacker will lock ur keypad. Try the 'safe mode' 😉 If SysMan (press & hold the menu key) or press the hot keys for keylocker not run, then u're in safe mode.
In safe mode phone bypass all unnecessary auto start-up files, that’s means that phone loads whit minimum system process, something like safe mod in windows.
If u have installed App manager or similar system application that’s can show and manipulate with system process U can see different between normal and safe mode on process tab.
Or if you have some 3rd party application with autoexec option, u will see that it is not running in safe mode, FS caller for example…
I can confirm that if you have the phone memory free the phone runs faster. The 'safe mode' doesn't work.

i guess safe mode is there in all nokia mobiles.....but for 3230 .... i think the code or secret key might be different.
the very main purpose of this safe mode key is for us to format the MMC. Because there's 1 problem of the MMC that we cannot navigate & explore (just like hanging problem) our symbian phones in this way of doing the safe mode trick we are able to go to MMC and format it (means loosing all data in it)
