Foma/motorola M100

Hello :
I recently purchased a FOMA/MOTOROLA M1000 in Japan. While I have set the language to English and most apps seem to have been converted all to english, some apps, like the CONTACTS app, seem to have some Japanese characters in it (like the tabs that have the letters of the alphabet).
My question is, how can I un-install and re-install the Contacts app? I would like to re-install the english version of the app to get rid of the Jap. characters.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
tks!

maybe a bit late reply, but whatever...

its Foma, its made by DoCoMo, just assume the inside of the phone is covered in barbedwire and has a snake pit dug around it.
you cant touch it.
In japan, the phones are not just made, setup with some firmware and then given to a network to sell,
the phones while some models maybe available in europe (almost always after japanese release) are made for the network. to the extent where some dont even have SIM cards.
Foma are in a world of their own, and as far as i know, you cant modify, change, unlock, fiddle, experiment or infiltrate them in anyway.

if someone knows otherwise, please let us know

😊

this is related to the phonetics of japanese, I hope i'm not repeating what you already know,
I haven't seen this particular model in action here however the normal reason for the characters in things like the contacts is because phonebook entries on japanese phones normally have 2 name fields, one for the persons name in kanji characters and one for the way it is read (the phone cannot use the kanji version as sometimes the way it is read is different)
the way around this should be to either leave the readings field blank or enter roman characters into this box and it should just default to roman characters listed first.

like i said this is just the norm on japanese phones but i dunno how it works on a symbian smartphone in Japan but the thing will be locked up tight as it's a Japanese phone
