The first Symbian OS 9.1 and first S60 3rd Edition phone have started shipping in the form of the Nokia 3250. The 3250 is Nokia's mid-teir music smartphone and costs 350 Euros. The Nokia N91 will start shipping in Europe in the first week of April, and follow in the Middle East and Asia in the second week of April. Shipping dates for the US market are not yet available. Now taking all extremely cynical bets about the release date of the N91. The problem is that Nokia is now releasing two specifically music-centric smartphones in a very short space of time and one of them will fall flat. People will either wait a bit longer for the more expensive large scale one or decided that it's way over priced (remember, Joe Public very rarely spends �500 on a phone and the business community is more likely to go for the P990 & 9300i). My guess is that the 3250 will really go a long way and the N91 will fall flat. After all, now it's also got the Samsung SGH-i300 to compete with. Mind you, Samsung don't win prizes for release dates either.....
I'm not sure I agree. I think they are aimed at different types of people. I think the N91 is as much as music device as a phone where as the 3250 is a music device as well as a phone.
I do think that the N91 could do with a bump though it specs. However it still beats out the 3250 with out of the box memory and WiFi. Plus it arguable looks nicer...
I do think the 3250 is going to do well though, better than the 3230 for sure. Its an attractive price point / feature set.
