I'm not sure how many people in this forum are in the United States, but I have been reading over at Howard Forums many complaints about the 9300a (900/1800/1900 version) and its 1900 MHz reception. Apparently it is rather poor. The 9300b (850/1800/1900) is supposed to be much better.
I'm interested in purchasing a 9300i which obviously only comes in the "a" version (900/1800/1900). I would use it on T-Mobile which only has 1900 MHz towers in my area, so I do not need the 850 band, however I am concerned about the potential for lousy 1900 reception.
Since I would be purchasing this phone unlocked from overseas, I do not have the option of a 15-day trial and I would not be able to return it.
Has anyone here used the 9300i in the United States? Can you comment on how good the reception is compared to other phones?
Reception on my 9300 (normal, actually originally from England Vodafone) is PERFECT in manhattan, on t-mobile. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. And much more reliable than my treo 650 gsm reception (tmo as well).
Can't imagine the 9300i being worse!
Thanks. But I ended up going with the 9300b from Cingular. I could not a consistant answer about the 9300i reception, and that together with the 9300i review on this website that said Wi-Fi was useless, lead me to decide to save my money and go with the Cingular 9300. I got it for $200 which was about $450 cheaper than the 9300i. 😊
Hey Eric, am interested in picking up another 9300 for my dad. Where exactly in NYC did you pick one up for such a fair price??
Thanks
Dennis
I live in Los Angeles and recently purchased a 9300i from a local phone shop 2 weeks ago, and have already gone back to my P910a. I'm on tmobile, and the reception is horrible.. 1 to 2 bars where my p910a would have 5, and no signal the rest of the time.. Really sorry i bought this phone.. 😡
