Load "wma" plugins/codecs and rename wma files to mp3. They will now play in the default player.

Tested and working.

So where can i load wma codec?

huh, after the codec is installed on phone all you have to do is rename wma's to mp3's and use the default player.

It doesn't get much simpler than that. This is the only way on n70.

Here's the codecs (it's just the codec for OGG and WMA, which is also free all over the internet).

Install sis file on your phone (mine are installed on my memory card).
Just rename your files from xxx.wma to xxx.mp3. Rescan from default player or OggPlay.
Now, the default player and OggPlay will be able to play wma files.

Viola, renamed wma file now shows up as a selection to play and plays wonderfully.

Enjoy.

Well, here's how this was discovered...an excerpt from

Look for a file called wmaogg(Emroozi).sis this will enable ogg ands wma formats to be played

Well, I found it and installed it. I was able to go in to FExplorer and select the ogg file and it opened up in "RealPlayer". Sounded great so I went to make a play list but when I did a scan in "RealPlayer" it only found my *.mp3 files. I tried the same thing in "Music Player" with the same results, only *.mp3 files show up when I executed "Update Collection" from the options menu.

I thought "that sucks because I need a way to play all my tunes randomly, not individually out of FExplorer.

That sucks because it sounds awesome.

Knowing that codecs base file execution on file/header content rather than file extension I thought "I'll rename all my *.wma and *.ogg files to *.mp3 and spoof the "Music Player" "Update Collection" option because it was obviously only looking for files with the mp3 extension.

Viola, it worked! The scan picked up all the renamed files as mp3s but the codecs will still handle the file based on it's content....AWESOME!!!

They all work, this proves with any codec any file can be played in the stock "Music Player" app by simply adding codec and renaming file to .mp3!

This is very important because these files sound unreal in "Music Player" but sounded like shit in "UltraMp3".

I did follow the step, but still the error "system error" in Music Player when i try to play the file. What caused it?

Wma and ogg codecs works best with OggPlayer, the default player crashes on my N70 after around 20 seconds of playing. Anyway, the default player is pretty limited in options. Maybe I'm wrong, but I consider OggPlayer the best music player ever made.

N93 is supposed to play .wma out of the box

i did try that wma codec thing on my n70 , the default music player does play it , but the sound quality is pathetic and keeps stucking forever... please give another idea that actually works perfectly , plus can anyone tell me if i can play realplayer audio files on my music player? i know there is a realplayer program already installed on the phone , but playing it there makes us forego everything else without letting to do anything else on the phone, because the moment u want to switch to the standby mode , the player exits. waiting for a quick and useful reply......

WMAPlus is the only WMA player for the N70 that I know of.

The only thing that works more or less perfectly with the N70 is to convert your WMA files to a format that the device supports by default (MP3 or AAC) before you load them on the phone.

A broader list of the audio (and video) formats (including which versions of Real Audio) supported by the N70 you can find here:

Why don't you use mp3, aac or ogg along with the builtin player or OggPlay?

At least the N91 plays WMA (and with the latest firmware also DRM protected WMA).

Meanwhile I chek, and my mistake, N91, N93 and N73 at least, support wma, but not the more old N70.

Mine has the same problem, it now recognises the files (after changing from xxx.wma to xxx.mp3). The files however only appear for a second and then the next MP3 track is opened. If opened from the file not the player it just sits there and wont play :con?
