I have just formatted my phone, before formatted, I use FExplorer 2 copy folder Mail from : C:\System ---> E:\ (MMC driver), now, how can I restore my messages? Anyone can help me ?
I copied Mail folder from E:\ to C:\System & overwrite Mail but nothing's happen 😞
I go to : Messaging / Settings / Other --> I dont see the "Memory in use" part ? but in Help it writes : Memory in use : Select whether to save your received messages in Phone or Memory card
Help 😞 I dont want 2 lose that messages, many important messages 😞
This cannot easily be done. The backup/restore on the phone closes system programs, like messenger, so it can backup the files.
Using FExplorer can copy the file away ok, but cannot put it back, as the Mail program is open.
When flashing the phone to a new version, you should use the memory card backup process or the PC Connect backup system. This is mentioned ALL OVER in the update notes, so it is difficult to miss.
All is not lost however. You *MAY* be able to fool the system:
Backup the phone using PC Connect
Find the backup folder on the PC
Find the backup list file (cannot remember its name, but it is a .txt)
In there are the names of all file names, and the code number (eg: 85) it is called on the PC
Copy the old mail file name from the Memory card to the PC backup name
Then restore the files back from the PC.
This is not guaranteed, as the backup system and file structure is very complex, but may be worth a try
Excellent tip, thanks Kev 😊
