Sorting out the converter

Ok, I'm ready to take Nokia's converter round the corner, into the alley, and give it a DAMN GOOD KICKING! I like to keep reference documents on my 9210 to help me when I'm working, most of which are in HTML files to make hunting for information easier.

My current problem is discovering that although copying .htm files to the 9210 leaves them unconverted, copying .html files has them converted to word documents. This, as you can guess, is a pain, as I've downloaded a reference doc with 200+ files, the majority of which are .html files. I've gone through the programs in my PC Suite directory but none offer a way to change the converter used.

Need help.........

Sorted it, I cheated by zipping the file, copying it, then unzipping it with zip manager. Why didn't I think of that before trying to fiddle with settings files.

I don't think you should have to.

It seems insane that it converts HTML pages into word documents. It does not even interpret the HTML i.e. you end up with a word document with all the tags. I find that both .HTM and .HTML documents get converted.

I also dont have a copy of the unzip utility and dont want to have to buy it just for this purpose.

Select files you want to copy, drag with RIGHT mouse button, position where you want to copy them, release RIGHT mouse button and select Copy Only instead of Copy & Convert.

Thanks, bit late now, but at least it means I won't need to buy Zip Manager to copy files to the 9210 once the trial runs out.

I had exactly the same problem when trying to move txt files for a Smallbase imports. I cheated the same way by using winzip but I dont have any zip software on the 9210. How did I extract it? It seemed to be some kind of file viewer. Zipping files also helps to upload files quicker too. Its weird cos I only did this yesterday

Great thanks for that.

One of the file viewers that comes on the c.d with the 9210 (1/4) can open zip files, but i can't remember which one. The Nokia website has the newer versions and If you download 'em all it's bound to work!
