When viewing an image in my (unlocked) N70's Gallery, when I select 'Edit', Gallery closes down and I'm returned to the main applications screen.
Anyone else's do this? Is it a firmware bug?

With N6630, already fixed with its new firmware:
*Handling of corrupted jpeg files improved.
Hmm.... I'm on the latest N70 firmware. You mean it's probably a bug and there might be a comparable N70 fix out in the future?

Try 3rd party app for the closes down images 😊 . But in my experience, u've a corrupted image or try Safe Mode. I'm often gettin' such problem. When my PC is ok to view an image, but after transferring it to my phone, i've got corrupted image 😞
Hi Steve,
The edit function works for me and I'm on V2 Orange firmware. I have read past posts where edit will crash and burn on jpegs taken in portrait mode (take with the silver side button) yet will work perfectly on landscape jpegs (pictures taken with the front 'joypad' key). Is that the same for you?

Nope, does it on every picture I take, whatever the method used. Ah well. Didn't want to edit on the phone itself anyway, I was just curious.... 8-)

I got the same problem and thought I had my image editor in the wrong place, but tried moving it to phone memory yet no joy.
Never mind. Neat phone nonetheless 😃
Should ask Nokia for it 😊
Don't worry guys, as novel as the edit function is on the N70, you're not missing much. I used it once just to see it's capabilities and while pretty nifty, I much prefer editing images on a PC. Used once and not returned to it since.

Mind didn't work, but I have managed to get the video editor to work by running it from the Z: drive first. once run it seems it creates an INI file that tells the Gallery where to work from.
I tried it with the photo editor but while it does change the behaviour of the application, it doesn't work yet on my device.
This is a step in the right direction though and maybe if someone else wants to try it, it's dead easy - just use FExplore to run the Z: drive version once and see what happens.:icon14:
Nice idea, but running ImageEditor from Z: just hangs my N70. White screen of death!

Sorry for wrong thread, but I think we've same problem here.
I've got a problem with PhotoEditor on my Nokia 6630. I'm using photo editor PhotoEditor_6630_EMEA version 1.0.0 by Openbit Ltd (downloaded from Nokia web site at Nokia 6630 section). While trying to load the image using photo editor, I got error "Error loading image !". Not all image.
I can manually opening it using FExplorer. I can view/renaming it using 'Gallery' and 'Image mgr.'. I also so many times deleting photoeditor.ini on my phone but no luck. The size of the images (.JPG) around 6kb-11.2kb. Why photoeditor couldn't handle it?
If I use my PC using ACDSee to 'save as' the error images, the photo editor can view it.
I went into safe mode, no luck.
I've tried:
1. Create 'tested' folder on C:\Images\ --> C:\Images\Tested
2. Copy 10 images (the error and not error) to 'tested' folder
3. Rename folder E:\Images --> E:\XYZ
4. Set 'XYZ' folder & its sub folder 2b hide (hidden=ON)
5. Restart phone...
5. Photo editor only show 2 images on C:\Images\tested folder.
And the very strange is if I rename the error image, then it just gone from photo editor (photo editor can't detect it).
Please help.

I get that with the image editor as well but I was thinking, since the video editor now works because (I guess) of the .ini file, would someone who has a working image editor be so kind as to post the .ini file for their image editor (only the .ini file, nothing else - except maybe a text description of the folder path).
Sorry to reopen this thread, but I was wondering whether to write an editorial about the problem. The thing is, Nokia bill the N70 as being a 'photo lab in your hand' - i.e. that editing photos is its main star feature. So it's hugely ironic that this is the one bit that doesn't work at all!!!
Can we have a quick straw poll? I've added one to this thread (hopefully in a minute), perhaps I can get a picture of how it works for each of you.
Thanks
Steve

I've even, just now, retested it to see if anything has changed in the last few months from when I last ran the application. The result is that it still works perfectly for me.Can we have a quick straw poll? I've added one to this thread (hopefully in a minute), perhaps I can get a picture of how it works for each of you.

However, even though the application functions without issue for me, I would class Nokia's statement as over optimistic as the quality of images that the N70 takes still isn't as good as a dedicated digital camera, even one that's rated as 2MP. You'd want decent results to begin with never mind the ability to edit them on your handset, and in my opinion, the N70 hasn't made that leap. As for editing photos, it's a great novelty but I wouldn't class it as a replacement for dedicated PC image editing software, maybe something you might use in an emergency.
*EDIT* Maybe the picture edit function issues are related to firmware version or network variant firmware?
S.
Yes, it seems so, as the poll results above show overwhelmingly that most people have no issues. Ah well. I'm on Vodafone with 3 month old firmware. I'm going to try reflashing to 5.x soon, we'll see what happens after that.

seems to happen when image is in portrait orientation but landscape is fine
Hmm... doesn't make any difference here.... Ah well. Most people are fine, so it's just something wierd on some firmwares. I can live with that.
Steve
I have found a solution that has fixed this problem and you can see the fix here -> http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/45789/
:icon4:
I did try that but it didn't work on my machine.
Upgrading to firmware 5.x did though 8-)
Steve
You haven't confused that last post of mine with the first one I put in here have you?
The first solution I tried never did work but I know that I now have a fully functioning edit facility from the Gallery whereas before I didn't.
No, I tried all the things here. At least I thought I did 8-)
And now it all works OK anyway with the new firmware so I can't go back and check.
Anyway, recommending new firmware is best, as it'll fix lots of other things as well, no doubt!
