Fax Failed?

4 replies · 1,894 views · Started 11 April 2006

I have tried and tried to get faxing to work with my 9500 using US tmobile.

Every fax I try to send from messaging causes an F to appear in the upper-left corner and then I am told that the fax failed. If I try to fax a "normal" phone, it won't even ring.

In other words, it does not even seem to dial.

I'm a pretty sharp guy, but this has me completely stumped, and google is no help here.

Has anyone successfully gotten the 9500 to send a fax?

Thanks in advance,
M

I have sent faxes from my 9500 through Vodafone.ie. You need to have fax enabled on your mobile number. In some countries, this may mean you are given a separate fax number for sending and receiving faxes.

However, I am unable to receive faxes on my 9500 as this facility is not available on Vodafone in Ireland.

Hope this helps.

Martin

Martin,

Thanks for the reply. Just this morning tmobile sent me a response which says that I need a CSD line (whatever that is) added to my package (for $9.99/month).

I don't need faxing that bad, so I will skip it. An interesting side note though: I have been with several carriers and every one, save tmobile, would have told me to go away when I asked for help with an unsupported phone.

The tmobile response was timely, polite, empathetic and extremely helpful, even though they do not sell nor support the 9500. Very cool.

Thanks again,
Marty

Hi,

I am in the UK with O2 and have been succesfully sending and receiving faxes without any trouble at all. I have a seperate number for fax and there are no charges for it.

I had trouble setting it up but it was the settings at O2 which werent right but eventually they got it sorted and its been running fine for the last yearwithout any problem

vodafone UK dont charge either, i got 2 extra numbers, 1 for fax and 1 for data but its only for contract, not pay as you go
