I was in town today and i want to know why the hell people who do not have a clue about phones work in phone shops?????????? Please tell me! Recently i received the CommWarrior virus. It ate my message center number - so i thought 'il go to the o2 shop and ask them for it. The guy asked me for my phone and i give him it but he couldnt figure out how to type in the message center number so he tried to tell me that my phone would need its firmware updated and i would have to pay o2 to send it back to nokia! I then had to stand and argue with the idiot to give me the message center number so that i could enter it myself! Eventually i got it and within 30 seconds of him giving me the number i had fixed my problem! I then went to another phone shop just down the street which advertises as having everything il ever need for my phone. Firstly i asked if they could update firmware on phones. He didnt know what firmware was and when i explained what i was he said it couldnt be done! I then asked for a new fascia for my 6680. He didnt know what a Nokia 6680 was and then he said that the fascias werent out yet but there was an order on the way! For my final request, (it was also advertyised that they had a great range of bluetooth accesories) i asked about the new nokia bluetooth headset the HS-12w! When i mentioned bluetooth he tried to sell me a nokia 6230! I explained i only wanted a headset. So he showed me the three that they had (what a great range!) I told hom about the HS-12w and said they were in ear earphones like you get on a wired headset but this was bluetooth and also had a radio in built. He then told me that this did not exist and was merely a figment of my imagination!!! At this stage i was ready to run away but..... i asked about memory cards. He tried selling me a 64mb card! Although it was an (sd) card that the phone didnt take! I then said 512mb/1gb - he looked shocked! Said that there was an order of these on the way...... [yeah right!]

Im so happy to get that all out although it probably lokks like a load of gibberish but these tell me is it just me or does this thing hapen everywhere???

I came into town specially to get that sorted and ended up having my time wasted!

Probably. I never bother with shop clerks - I know I know more about phones then them anyway, so I just get whatever I need on-line.

how do you get firmware upgrades then?

Never had the need for one. Oh wait, I did once upgrade my Ericsson T68 to T68i about 5-6 years ago...
