N70 Battery draing to quickly

15 replies · 3,301 views · Started 18 April 2006

Ive had my N70 now for a month or two and have noticed that im having to recharge it all the time.I leave it charging overnight and by the next day at say 18.00 half the power has gone when i havent even used it to text or make a call!

I noticed the battery is exactly the same as the Nokia 7610 which I used to own and that didnt need recharging nowhere near as much!

Is anyone else out there suffering the same problem?

Any help would be most appreciated!

Depends on how much i use it.
If i'm having a lot of calls and sending loads of e-mails,playing stone pilot for a few hours then i'd have to charge it that night.
But i can leave for a day and half maybe with out useing it.

mine also goes pretty quickly, i'm lucky if it lasts 2 days and i keep my phone on silent

its definatley not the battery as my 6670 battery also goes quickly in my N70 too....

Have just made a good discovery! Make sure you totally drain the battery flat so there is ZERO power left and then start charging rather than charging when it still has power.

I did this and took it off charge at 07.25 made 1 or 2 calls at 18.00 and now still at 23.15 I still have full power!!!

Hopefully this will continue to give the same performance!

Let me know how you get on if you have the same problem (as i used to hopefully 😊 )

I am sorry but this old trick to totally drain the battery does not make sense
on a Lithium Battery, on a NiMh battery it would make sense, but not an a
Li-Ion battery. It has nothing with the N70, or Nokia to do, it's just how
the battery technology works, draining Li-Ion batterys shall not extend
the battery usage time.

My advice regarding battery use on the N70 is to switch of 3G if you do
not use video-calling, this will give you 50% more battery time through the
work-day, at the least.

I have to recharge my battery every night, just as I had to with my Sendo X,
as with my Nokia 6600. This is a smartphone, and it uses more energy than
a regular mobile phone. The processor in the N70 is of 220Mhz,
(104 on the 6600 and 120 on the Sendo X), it goes without saying that a unit
with such computing power uses energy!

I am sure if you go ahead and buy a Nokia 6230 or a Sony Ericsson W800
you would achieve better battery usage time, but then again you could
say goodbye to the excellent functionality a smartphone such as the N70
gives you.

I am sure your use of the N70 is more extended than on your previous phones,
and also, you should check that you do not have any software running
in background consuming computing power and energy.

In my opinion the N70 gives you just about the same functionality as a
Pocket PC, e.g. like my fathers QTEK 9100 which lasts barely through the day.

So you have to look at what your needs are, if your needs are just to make
calls and look cool, buy a smaller simpler regular mobile phone, not an
advanced smartphone like the N70.

Your choice, deal with it.

my battery last 1day with usage of
about 2 hours off oggplay
bout 20 txts
2 Phone calls of about <5mins each
& playing a feew javas games for about a total of 20mins

have to charge everyday with 3g off.kinda annoying

Mine with 3G on, last one day, or even less!
Without 3G.... 4-5 days!
Try to ton off the 3G network, only to know waths hapen.

I used to get around 2-3 days...but this was with the stupid 'Power Saver' that turned on the light when you're not using it...and on 3G.

Now, with it disabled and onto GSM, lasts around 4-5 days. My good old 6310i lasts a week and a half!

Well ive always had the 3G turned on and since i did what i said early about draining the battery then recharging it ive had full power!

I recharged the phone on 17/04/06 about 23.00 then the next day 18/04/06 i took it off charge at 07.25 and still till now 20/04/06 20.00 i still have full power so it did work for me!

Sometimes faulty memory card can cause excessive power consumption. Remove the memory card for one night and watch if that helps.

Also the camera shield can slide down whilst you put the phone into your pocket. If the camera mode is on all the time it will quickly empty the battery.

If you don't want the camera to start when the slide is down you can prevent it by killing the "CamServerCore" process (by pressing C key) from [processes] folder with FExplorer. Sadly, the keylock still opens when you slide the cover down. Even if you kill the process you can still start the camera software via phone menu and the process comes back when you restart your phone so the slide works again.
