Error when accessing 'Menu->Extras->Applications'

first of all i want to say that i dont want to format my phones memory (unless i have no choice) >_<

my phone is a Nokia N-Gage firmware version 4.03 (26-11-2003) (maybe someone can use that info i dunno XD)

when i access Applications, to install a java game, my phone stops for 10 seconds, and then it gives an error and i am back at "Extras"

the error message is :
App. closed
MidpUi
E32USER-CBase 71

anyone got any way to fix it ? (not formating the phones memory)

okok doesnt look like ill make this without formatting i guess...

last question: if i format, it does not touch the OS itself (Z:\) at alöl does it? because in my INstructions for the n-gage it says it also formats Z:\ O.o
in FExplorer it says <rom> next to Z:\ wasnt that read-only-memory or somethin like that? that means it couldnt format that at all

i just want to format C:\ thats all.
