Hello folks,
I'm not sure I have a clear understanding of the deployement possibilities
of a Symbian signed application. Is it possible to sign an application and
deploy it on any Series 60 device or is it mandatorily linked to a platform
version eg Series60 2ndEdFP3?
Thanks in advance for clarification,

You can Symbian Sign apps for all S60 variants, but for all S60 versions
before 3rd edition this isn't mandatory.
Starting with S60 3rd edition, signing is mandatory when you use certain
API's.

I may have not be clear when posting my question. The question is : Can a
signed application be deployed on devices from multiple S60 platform, e.g. I
sign an application I want to install it -using the same signed sis- on a
7650, a 6600 and N70 ? Or will I have to pay for 3 signature ? Of course I
know that I cannot mention a S60 3rd Edition device as there is a binary
break.

Yes, if designed and coded well enough, an app can run on all devices of
the same UI platform up to SOS 9.x devices.
From SOS 9.x onwards also if the app is designed and coded well enough
it seems that it should run on all the devices announced so far.
You only need one signature per app and can install it on multiple
supported devices.

No, if you can create an app that runs on all pre 3rd edition S60 devices,
you only need to sign it once. Signing doesn't change the code, and the code
determines whether an app will actually run on a device. Signing is about
installing an app.
