Problem reading MMC via cable after format.

So I bought a 256mb MMC (Kingston) for my N-Gage, and everything worked lovely for months. Then one day, I decided to format my MMC. So I connected my N-gage to my computer via the cable, and formatted the MMC with windows.

When I then went to access the MMC from my N-gage, it said it was corrupted, so I formatted using the N-gage. The N-gage could then see the MMC and access it. However, now I can't see the MMC when I plug my N-gage into the PC.

I've tried re-formatting multiple times but to no avail. My PC can no longer see the MMC. I have seen other instances of people having this problem, for example look at this link:
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/28176/

and this one:

Yet I have not seen a solution. Surely if the problem is this common there must be one?

i have the same problem also.. the usb arrow still appears on the fone but the computer dont read the mmc..
the solution i found was buying a card reader

Yup I've had to resort to that too. Annoying thought, as you have to take the MMC out of the phone to read it, which means you have to take out the battery, which means you have to reset the clock etc....:icon13:

donpost, try using a different usb cable.
yesterday i borrowed my friends usb cable and my pc read my ngage

lmao i have the same prolem i formated with the pc and now its stuffed i have to use the card reader i wonder if it can be fixed and i have tryed different cables

take ur MMC out of ur phone, format it in digital camera that takes both SD/MMC den da problem is solve =) *my digital camera is Digimax 301*

Asslam Alaikum,
Note:Formatting will delete all you data existing on you Memory Card.Backup you date before formatting.I take no responsibility of any damage caused by it.Do it at you own RISK!
Problem:
I know alot of peoples have encountered this problem. Whenever they format their MMC from Windows (XP) to FAT format (readable by N-Gage) and then go to Memory on Tools options in their phones. They get a message "Memory Card Corrupted” with the phone suggestion to format the card. Most of the people think that formatting memory card from the N-Gage will solve the problem.
Eventually it is not the case.
Solution.
In order to fix this issue, you must have a card reader for MMC or an alternative like Digital Camera capable of reading MMC.Put you MMC in either and then connect it with computer. After that you will be able to view a new hard drive in My Computer which will be your MMC.Now format the MMC to FAT32.Yeah I know FAT32 does not work with N-Gage.But just format it to FAT32.After the format is completed. Put your MMC back to your N-Gage.Now you windows will be able to detect you MMC through N-Gage, but still N-Gage cannot read FAT32 file system. So again format you MMC to FAT through N-Gage connected USB cable. After the format is completed. Your windows as well as your Gage will accept your MMC.
Thanks.
