Cingular has unlocked my 6682

After calling them and asking them for the unlock code for the 4th time, Cingular Wireless has finally given me the unlock code and now my phone is capable of using it all over the world.

So, my encouragement to all you guys out there trying to unlock their phones... keep calling them asking them to unlock your phones. Unlike me some of you guys might get the unlock code by asking 1 time.

So, it is true that Cingular had the unlock code for the phones all the time. They were just not willing to hand it out to the consumers.

Here's the reply from Cingular:

[INDENT]In order to receive the subsidy unlock code for your phone, you must
have Cingular's International Roaming feature active on your account.
This feature will allow you to use your Cingular phone and SIM while
outside the Unites States at a per minute rate based on the country you
are traveling in. It is not necessary to unlock your phone to use this
service. More information is available at http://cingular.com/cingularworld
.

If you would like to add international roaming to your account, please
reply to this email with your request or contact customer service at
1-800-331-0500, and a Representative will be happy to add the feature.
International roaming features can take up to 72 hours to become active
on your account.

Once you have an active international roaming feature on your account,
we can request the subsidy unlock code for your phone. The subsidy
unlock code request can take 5-7 days to process.

Do most folks enabled International Roaming and then get the phone unlocked?

So, i could enable it, get the phone unlocked and then call back to take out international roaming. Right?

hello there:
I did call customer service and tell them I would like to unclock my phone for ues internationa, but they told me that I have to pay 5 dollars for roaming service. and they told me " your account has at least three month with them"

Instead of the earlier e-mail based attempt, i called 611. They put in a request for the unlock code and claimed that i would get an e-mail confirming the request in 1 business day. The code itself would take up to 7 business days to come through.

There was no mention of requiring to activate International Roaming.

This seems consistent with reports in howardforums (i think) where people are told it will take 5-7 business days. Whether they really unlock the phone in 7 days remains to be seen.

Will post back if there's any progress (or lack of).

I received the unlock code by e-mail within 6 biz days from placing the request. Phone is now unlocked. I did not need to activate international roaming etc.

I did sent them 2 emails and I got response same yours. I did call them again and they said "it take 5 working days" hopefully, I don't two pay international rate... I will update... thank you

I had my 6682. I also had my intl roam availaible for 3months. Then they said the phone wasnt bought at full price. So i payed, and guess what still no freakin code. I got pissed cause i travel overseas all the time. So i closed my account and sold the phone. Moral of the story is FY cingular.

Just a clarifying questions to the persons which had the same experience. Does Cingular request a proof of phone purchase with them for the same model you are requesting unlocking?
Thanks in advance
