Hi,
I just got my N80 on Orange and it's wicked.
I've got two quite serious problems though, communicating with an iBook running Tiger (10.4.6)
1) If I'm sending a picture from the phone via BT it seems to freeze after sending 263.9Kb of data. I'm not sure what's special about this number. I've sent MP3s to the phone of a few megs via BT so maybe it's a one way thing.
2) If I plug in the phone via USB and select Data Transfer mode (i.e. USB mass storage) it seems to go all haywire. The Finder (i.e. explorer) app on OS X seems to freeze up. I can see the addition of a Memory Card and once managed to browse it very briefly, but it seemed to just cock up after that.
I know most phone testing is done on PCs, but USB mass storage devices work fine normally and I've been able to BT pics from my 6600 and 6630 (greater than 263.9Kb) over the years.
Any ideas??
Cheers
B
Regarding the BT file transfer I'm sure I remember seeing this previously on a windows mobile phone transferring to a windows PC. I am trying to pick my brains to remember why it was happening. I am thinking something to do with MMS message size for some reason but I can't remember right now. I'll have a think.
hi bob
i am getting exact same thing on my powerbook running 10.4.6
it stops on 263.9kb.. quite annoying really. havent tried the cable yet. will do and will come back and report shortly
Hi
Glad I'm not the only one. I too have an iBook running 10.4.6 and a N80 (UK Voda). I get the exact same problems.
1) Yes, file transfer N80 to iBook freezes at exactly 263.9kb. Strange, because I have tested all the following transfers, and they all work fine for files of ANY size:
- iBook to N80
- N80 to/from Windows Laptop or Nokia 7610
- iBook to/from Windows Laptop or Nokia 7610
So, it seems that only the particular combination of sending files from the N80 to the iBook has the problem. I had already posted the problem
here, but no response yet.
2) I tried it once and it actually crashed my iBook, which is only the second time it's crashed in the past 18 months.
These are a real pain, i agree, but have you noticed that the bluetooth "Browse Device" function on OS X actually works fine with the N80. Not as fast as a direct cable connection, I know, but still pretty cool.
To load large volumes of data, I am using a USB card reader and a MiniSD-to-SD adaptor.
I too would be very interested if anyone finds a fix.
If it makes any difference, I am using firmware V3.0614.0.3.

I have a nokia N80 and ibook and have the same bluetooth issue.
However if I go browse device from the bluetooth menu and select the phone then I don't get any problems.
As for the USB again I get no problems. Can I suggest you try removing everything plugged into the USB
