Connecting to the Internet

Hi,

am new to all this mobile technology but thought I'd give the N80 a go.

Have tried to get an Internet connection through my N80 for my Sony Viao. Couldn't establish a connection over bluetooth but had better success using the USB. Although I can see the connection I don't seem to be able to browse using IE.

Any suggestions? Be gentle with me...this is my first time 😊

What network are you on?

What Access point are you connecting do ?

You must connect to your networks 'Internet' access point not the 'wap' one

Hi RatKat,

I'm on O2.

My access point is O2 Mobile web which I believe is the "Internet" access point?

Yes that should be the access point

Is it just the web you can't browse, have you tried sending email?

Haven't tried sending email yet but will give that a go and let you know how I get on.

Thanks.

😉

Just another question, I am assuming you are using the phone as a modem ? and have PC Suite installed and are using the connect to internet option ?

Yes I am using the phone as a modem. I have PC Suite installed and have been using the Internet option to set up a connection.

I couldn't establish a connection using bluetooth but it picked up a connection straight away using the USB cable.

Windows XP shows the live connection but I can't get IE to browse. I figure it's something to do with the connections settings in IE but I'm unsure of what to change them to? I have deleted all other (dial up, wireless) connections on the laptop while I mess around with this to be sure it's not that that's causing a conflict.

IE is probably set to never dial a connection and you may need to make it dial the modem to get it to work. Check under Tools - Options - Connections(?) to see how IE wants to connect.
