I've just been trying to edit some contacts in the memory of my N80 when I received the warning message - Memory Full, please close some applications!
Now, as I only had one other application running at the time and according to the File Manager I still had 34MB left, I was surprised to find I couldn't do any more in the Contacts application, especially as I only have 134kb used by Contacts. What gives? Anyone else had this problem?
Seems like there are some SERIOUS issues with the N80's handling of memory, there seem to be a lot of reports like this. I thought Symbian was meant to be good at handling memory - has this behaviour been observed on other 3rd edition phones???
I have had out of memory when zooming in on an image. Get to 50%, try and zoom in once more and get the message.
I was given a couple of tips for out of memory conditions by a person in an Orange store. First, when you finish using the Web or Service apps, go into the options and clear the cache. The images on web and wap pages can use up memory, and I have found that the out of memory situation goes away when I clear the cache.
Second, go into the Messaging app, select Options, Settings and then scroll down to Other. Change the Memory in Use option to Memory Card. Again, mail and SMS message use up memory.
I also think that the N80 is not keeping an accurate count of available memory. I'm sure this will be fixed in a firmware upgrade.

I agree, all these minor issues will be fixed in a future firmware update - that's the price you pay for being an early adopter. On the whole I think that considering the complexity of the phone software, and the features it offers there are very few bugs, certainly a lot less than I was expecting.
Woolie, I wouldn't have thought either of those things should sit in the device memory - they are storage issues. Unlike the image zoom, which would sound like a memory issue, so it seems strange that clearing storage would cure a memory problem.
Unless the N80 is giving a misleading message, and as I remember Nokia do seem to have a habit of using the term memory and storage interchangeably.

Ah yes, yet another memory problem my N80 suffers from. It won't zoom images past 50% due to "Memory Full", which seems the same as others.
I am constantly faced with these frustrating memory issues on my 80 as well.
Any idea how to acquire a firmware update that fixes this, and once I've got it, how to I update it?
