Where to get Firmware Updates

5 replies · 2,785 views · Started 31 May 2006

I have seen a number of items on the firmware update for the N80 but rather than attepting myself I want to take the phone somewhere an have them do it. However I bought the phone from carphone warehouse and they seem less than useless. None seem to have heard of the latest upgrade and none seem able to do on site.

Can anyone tell me where I can get this upgrade done. I live in Gravesend, north kent.

Regards

Neil

I know the nokia site gives a list but most are carphone warehouse sites and they do not have the firmware update available.

Do you know why they would not have the latest information available?

Have nokia officially realeased the update into the public domain?

Nokia has never released any firmware updates to the public domain (and probably never will).

The term "public domain" has a very specific meaning; something that's released to the public domain is no longer anybody's property, with all copyrights or other rights released, etc. It might still infringe on somebody's patents, for example.

Also, i would hardly call the carphonewarehouse useless just because they don't have the newest firmware. That isn't their fault. Perhap's a moan at nokia, mentioning the word "useless" would make you feel better...
