Another N80 Question re Music Player

8 replies · 4,530 views · Started 04 June 2006

I have just downloaded tracks to the memory card using Nokia Music Manager but when I try and access them music player cannot see them. IF I go to the memory card via file manager I can find them and then play them indivdually.

Can anhone tell me why music player cannot see these tracks, it can see other tracks previously loaded.

I had the same experience, but I have not really investigated yet because music at the moment is not the most important thing for me.

You have to explicitly tell the music player to update its song list.
To do this go into the "Music Library" view and then select 'Options' >> 'Update Music Library'

Finally found it, seems a bit daft that you have to update manually but many thanks for your help.

Why? You have to tell Windows Media Player and MusicMatch Jukebox to look for new songs if you just copy them across. I don't really see a difference.

on palm based devices the songs appear automatically...personally I don't think it's asking too much for the same to be the case on symbian

Well, with about 75% of my mp3s on the phone/memory card being ringtones I for one am extremely glad that they do not automatically appear in the music library.

would be rather stupid really don't you think?

I have no problem with manually updating but if you have to manually update the instructions how to do so might be easier to find. In saying that why should the phone not give you the option automatically when you update other wise what is the point of downloading tracks to the music player.

IMHO it would be nice to be able to set a music library folder for monitoring (similar to iTunes on the PC). This would be a good compromise between automatic scanning of the whole device (a pain on WM5) and the current manual update requirement on the N80..
