Can someone explain wi-fi hotspots (UK) to me? I know what wi-fi is etc... but i was in a bus station and there was a little sign on the wall sayin 'BT Openzone Wireless Zone'. Is this service free then? Because i checked the BT website and it says 6 an hour to be used in a 24 hour period. This is pretty useless wen sittin waitin for a bus (for me anyway) because il be there for 15/20 minutes tops... so to pay 6 for 15/20 minutes browsing seems useless. Can somebody shed some light?

O yes and the wi-fi will be fully compatible with a mobile with wi-fi? :icon14:

Thanks 😊

There are free WiFi/WLAN hotspots, and there are commercial (you must pay) hotspots.

The same company may offer free access in some locations and charge in others.

The hotspot provider may also sell the access for specific time using credit card (or other payment methods), or they can also offer long-term subscriptions (some mobile operators who also operate WiFi/WLAN hotspots, can also put the WiFi charges on the phone bill).
