EA Mobile Sets Sights on Premium Services in Europe

EA Mobile is hoping to repeat the success of its premium service offerings in the U.S. by making similar offerings available in Europe. �We will offer content that has universal appeal, such as The Sims 2�, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, and Need For Speed Most Wanted.

When it comes to other premium sports, we will offer Euro-centric content,� says Lincoln Wallen, CTO of EA Mobile. Currently, American premium channels carry EA Mobile�s Madden NFL 06 and NBA Live 06 Basketball One-On-One, while sports such as soccer have more appeal in Europe.

Hmm... weird.

S60s have had 3D graphics right from the start, Tomb Raider appeared on S60/N-gage in 2003 and it was an exact port of the PC/PlayStation version. I agree 3D is far better-looking on the very latest phones, but since 2003 there's never been a technical barrier to doing 3D on Symbians (or Palms or Windows Mobiles for that matter).

The N-Gage has software 3D graphics libraries. This is more about 3D hardware accelleration.

(shrug) It's still 3D graphics whether it's through software or hardware.

Hardware acceleration might make it look nicer or smoother but it doesn't make it any more 3D-ish. The original PlayStation had 3D games but it didn't have any 3D hardware.
