I use the 9210 Communicator as the principal contacts base , i.e. I
enter my contacts in the phone and then through PC Suite ,
synchronize from Communicator to Outlook . However the fields (
addresses , faxes , names etc ) do not correspond.Only a few do.
Consequently data gets lost , is duplicated etc..Also after back up
and restoring to Communicator from Outlook things disappear or end up
in the wrong place.
The Nokia helpline people say that you have to start entering info in
Outlook and then synchronize towards the Communicator. This would not
be the preferred solution for me.
Has anybody with Communicator experience got a good solution please ?? Is Outlook perhaps not a good choice ?
I never had problems, and I use a lot of fields. What are you reffering at?
I gave up trying to synchronise both ways. Now I:
1) ALWAYS enter / modify the data on the 9210
2) Synchronise from the communicator to update Outlook only
3) I never enter data into outlook and never allow outlook to write to the communicator.
4) This applies to calendar entries, tasks and contacts. This solves all the problems with duplicates and helped with field matching problems. I'm not sure it is perfect, but it is the best I have found.
5) For data back up, I back up from the communicator drive to MMC card using the facility in the 9210's file managerand then back the MMC up to PC via USB reader.
Ditto. 9210 is my data master, and copies to all other systems (with the exception of Lotus Notes mail). Nothing ever send data to the 9210 (again except LN mail). That way I can be sure the 9210 which is always with me is always correct and up to date.
