Has anybody watched any video streams on their N80 (using wlan for example).
Could you post a link or two and explain how you open them (I assume it would be with real player). Sorry if asking dumb question.

Video streams
I was trying to stream from the BBC news page, but even after selecting the Real Player stream, I got nothing 😞

I find that first thing you have to do is open real player, then in the network settings of real player set the connection type i.e your wireless network.
Then connect to the video stream you want and it should work.
Its a bit F*cked up but its the only way I can get it to work, It really should be a little easier than that, I move around in several wifi hotspots and have to do this every time, not only with real player but also with the web browser, I wish it could do this automatically...
Anybody know ???
I have set my web browser to always ask for a connection point when it tries to connect. It a preset WLAN configuration is found it lists that at the top, but I can also search for other WLANs and connect on the fly..
Last night i tried BBC Threes website, and tried to stream an episode of Grown Ups....
at first it said Unable to play Both video and audio.... trying to play partially..
.
Im presuming this is because the video is larger than the n80s res... and realplayer is unable to shrink the video??? When on bbc threes website you click settings and set bandwidth to Low... it works fine. Picture quality is still quite good.... and it didnt buffer once...
Watched it for a good 15 minutes, but then my phone turned white and rebooted... ARGHH
Problem is... when i booted back up and went back to bbc threes site, you cant fastfoward any videos in realplayer.... ANNOYING!!
I have been streaming video from Orb of live tv from my sky box over wi-fi when I am out and about several times a day for no other reason than to show off to my friends 😊 😊 😊
They are so jelous, especially the guy who bought a razor last month because he thought it was the dogs bo**ox 😊
Makes me happy to be alive
can anyone get the worldcup video links to work on bbc site?
I have also tried playing the clip of the day on the big brother site without success, it is as if you can not select it
Got my first one to work today, after much getting timed out/doing nothing as above. Go into Realplayer, Settings and set the access point to the one you've created. Default (on mine) was contract wap. Hmmm...
Anyway here's what I got to work:
http://www.canalsur.es/Informativos/EmisionesDirecto/atv.html
Bit of Spanish tv I can watch at work 😊

I think it may be something to do with the stream opening in the browser and not realplayer on the phone, I couldn't open the BB video either, but streaming video, live TV and music over wifi from my PC works a treat
i cant make orb work on my n80 via wlan, but when i go to test.orb.com, i can hear the stream from there... i also test it with my laptop and it runs flawless... been tweaking virtual server and port forwarding also on my router for a while now and all ports seems to be opened already...
pc with orb to n80( no success)
pc with orb to laptop(flawless)
anything else i need to do?

Did you set network settings in realplayer first before you open orb, for some reason you have to do this everytime you use a new wireless connection, and also when you return to existing ones, It would be better if the phone would do this automatically, or give you a choice to do it automatically.
One of the issues fixed in the new firmware is:
"Real Player
- ROP stays in Loading status sometimes for live streaming"
I've definitely encountered this problem -- even after setting RealPlayer's access point correctly, it just sits there saying "Buffering" but the progress bar never advances. And on other days, when the wind is blowing from a different direction, it works!
I haven't tried it yet, but you never know, perhaps upgrading might help.
yup... what i did was open real player then go to settings, network and select my wlan access point at home, then i close real player open web then go to my.orb.com, then i can browse my shared files but whenever i want to stream something... it says cannot connect or something..... oh btw, on www.zoovision.com their streams are working with my phone using wlan...

Hmm..what firmware do you have *#0000# to check, this could be part of your problem if you have the old firmware, I had similar problems to you, but they went away and I just assumed it was because I was setting the network in real player (I still have to do that by the way), but it may dissapeared because of the firmware update as mentioned in the post above yours.
Zoovision may be working because it streams 3gp (somebody may have to correct me on the 3gp point)

I am pretty sure now that this is a firmware problem after you say you have the old firmware

In the tools section of your orb webpage you have the option to select 3gp or realplayer or wmp as the supported video formats, my 3gp is not selected as default, it may be worth checking to see if you are just streaming real, or 3gp, if not check 3gp and see what happens

Should the Nokia N80 be able to stream Real video from the BBC website ok? I don't seem to be able to get this working at the moment. I have an Orange UK phone with the latest firmware (3.0617.0.6) connecting via a Wireless router and can browse with no problems. When I click a video link on the BBC news site for example, I get the option to choose my bandwidth settings and which format to use (selecting Real obviously) and then I get a white screen with a small boat icon where the video should be :con?
I've noticed people suggesting to open Realplayer and select the connection settings, which I've done but it still doesn't work.
Any ideas?
Does Orb work with DVB-T(freeview) tuners?
bjarke wrote:Does Orb work with DVB-T(freeview) tuners?
This is from the orb website
NOTE on DVB tuners:
1. Most DVB-T (terrestrial) digital tuners should work in Orb. However, this functionality is offered as a "beta" and is therefore not fully supported at this time.
2. DVB-S (satellite) digital tuners do not work in Orb at this time.
So give it a go and see 😊
