I'm Italian and I have an english N80 (UK). I have second sw version (11-04-06) and would want to flash it last (to the 3-05-06). If I make the flash I lose the Italian language?:con? In your N80 there is the Italian language? :con?
Thanks to who will answer to me.

😉

You should use either V1 or 58.01 lanquage pack

Both contain

English
Francais
Deutsch
Italiano
Espanol
Portugues

But if I go to the Nokia Point, which version flash in my N80?

My sw version is (58.01)...

In the box it of my telephone it is written: "COUNTRY VARIANT PB". What does it mean?

Thanks a lot.

Hi there!
I've recently bought a Nokia N80 on Ebay imported from UK, though I live in Italy. So I'm in the same situation of Nokia_N80.
My current software version is: V 3.0614.0.3 (11-04-06, RM-92)
It's buggy, since there's a bug in the browser's RAM management and I cannot fully use it.
So I'd like to update the firmware, since I've read the new version fixes this bug. Yet, I'm worried about loosing italian language. What languages does the english version of my firmware have? And what do those initials (PB and SS) stand for?
Thanks in advance and I hope ya'll answer me.

Hi Ryan, the firmware itself does not contain the langauge. There are ten or so seperate langauge files available, if you use .V02 it will contain the italian langauge:

The 1st file in the list, is the firmware.
The 3rd file in the list is the .V02 EUROPEAN langauge pack.

First of all thanks for your answer. Now everything is clearer.
Then, if I took th N80 to a Nokia Point to have it updated, would I risk to loose italian? For example, if they say they cannot install the V02 because of the product code of my N80...

The service point shouldn't quibble over the language pack for you and they should have access to all the packs.

I wouldn't think that would be very good customer relations on their behalf if they refused to put a language pack on that you needed because of your location.
After all how do they know where you live/work?

😊

First of all, I just wanna thank Ryan for his post (I no more feel the one having these doubts) and GazP and The_Poet for their replies.

I have one more question: when Phoenix checks out the product code of the phone for automatically choose the language pack for it, is it possibile to abort the flash operation?
