Hay i just got my new n80 and want to set up the email settigns but hvnt got a clue.Any help....
email on the n80
Use the settings wizard provided on the phone. That way it might do a lot if for you. Otherwise you have to create an accunt in Messaging -> Settings. You will need to know your username and password + you incoming and outgoing mail server.
If you have the account set up in your e-mail client on your PC - just use the settings in there.
have tried that it says server not found
Is that when trying to send or receive e-mail? if you are sending it might be because you are trying using your ISPs e-mail server when you are not on their network.
e.g. If you are with Wanadoo you can't send e-mails through wanadoo's server unless you are connected through their ADSL/dial-up.

You need to make sure you are using the correct access point. You need an access point that delivers "true internet", not just WAP.
Depending on where you got your phone, you probably have a variety of access points set up, and one of them will probably give you the Internet access you need.
As a matter of interest, which network are you on?

Can i change the default browser when you click a link in the built in email? I want to use the "Web" browser instead of the "Services" one...
im on 02.Have tried all the available servers
also has any one got a link for msn messenger for the n80

use agile messenger
You need to say what your isp is (if the not found is when you try and collect mail). I'm not sure what O2 sending mail server is.
Try pop.yourisp.com or mail.yourisp.com

All the available servers or all the available access points? Also, are you trying to connect over WLAN or GPRS/3G?
It is possible that O2 haven't pre-configured the access point you need to use. But I've never used O2 so I don't know. Maybe some O2 users on this forum can help with the correct settings.
Good luck

As far as I know, "Services" will be gone from S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and onwards, which means devices based on that realease will only have one browser and this problem is gone (for owners of such devices).
Scad,
Found this for you
http://www.mobileshop.org/usertech/gprssettings.htm
I'm with O2 and have had no problems using email with the free email account O2 supply, eg.
Incoming mail server = mail.o2.co.uk
Access point = O2 Wap GPRS
Mailbox name =
Maibox Type = POP3
Outgoing mail server = smtp.o2.co.uk
Hope this helps?
😊
nope still not hapening
these are the settings
incoming mail serv
mail.hotmail.com
access point
02 wap gprs
mailbox type
pop3
outgoing mail server
smtp.hotmail.com
access point
02 wap gprs
Microsoft's Hotmail does not support POP3 or IMAP4 at all, for incoming mail, nor SMTP for outgoing mail. At least as far as I know, it doesn't. So, you'll never get the Messaging app to connect, until the support is there.
Try another free email service that supports Internet messaging standards better (e.g., Google's GMail, or whatever).

You need to set up a new access point as it needs to be O2 MOBILE WEB.
You can get the settings from the O2 site, but I'll see if I can post them on here after I get in from work... 😊
Dayzee - BRAND new N80 Owner - since yesterday at 5pm 😊
Right, to set up the Access point for O2 MOBILE WEB
Go to the settings and on Access point in use click options/change - if O2 MOBILE WEB not there in choices, then go to options/new access point/use default settings
Then enter the following in each of the boxes and then back or possibly save.
Connection Name
O2 MOBILE WEB
Data Bearer
Packet data
Access point name
mobile.o2.co.uk
User name
o2web
Prompt password
No
Password
(Was already in - 4 stars)
Authentication
Normal
Homepage
None
Then select O2 MOBILE WEB from the list as the access point. 😊 Hope that helps
Dayzee xx
