Does any know if there is an ir remote app which is compatible with the N80, have tried a few with no success.

Also looking to get Bluetooth GPS, Navicore seems the best bet, has anyone tried it on the N80?

Any help much appreciated

There is an app called: "1st Universal Remote Control" which is a java application, hence it should be compatible. I have sent a couple of emails to the developer but haven't recieved a reply.

Additionally there is no trail/demo so i can't test it.

tried 1st universal remote, although its compatible with s60 its not with the n80. something to do with sis files I think. waste of $10 oh well

there is a program called unsis which will decompile the sis file, and you should be left with a jar file and a couple of others.
You might then be able to recreate the sis or just install the jar file.

Give us a shout if it works (and how well)

ok am complete newbie at this sort of stuff

have downloaded unsis and active pearl and have followed all the instructions i can find ie have typed

$ unsis <remote n80> <C:\Documents and settings\desktop\remote>

then pressed return

have absolutely no idea how perl works

any ideas?

i have only tried it once and i had to run the following:

perl c:\path\to\unsis.pl c:\path\to\file.sis c:\path\to\dest\

So something similar to what you have.

What output do you get?

Ren

with the following input

$ C:\s60\unsis.pl C:\s60\remoten80.sis C:\S60

i get the following output

Backslash found where operator expected at - line 1 near "s60\"
Backslash found where operator expected at - line 1 near "s60\"

which operator is it expecting?

try going into the s60 folder and typing:

perl unsis.pl remoteen80.sis .

Otherwise not really sure what is happening...

Have you gotten any further?
I am curious since i may consider getting this app, but only if it were to work on the n80

TOASTER CONTROL😎

Ok, i just bought it too, just for curiosity, i decompiled it, but there are no jar or jad files on the sis file, just an APP file and a bunch of TV files, well this was a waste of 10 bucks but its ok, we must do everything :tongue: for knowledge 😎

from pevious experience with other phones and pda's the infa red built into these devices are very weak and not designed to beam more than a couple of meters, so the idea of controlling your telly from a distance is not possible, although i have not tried this on a n80 :con?

I use the remote control that came with my telly to control it 😊....(or my sky box)

I think most of the AAS Forum users want to do new things on the N80 simply to prove it's possible. I wonder who has the most apps installed on theirs? (Perhaps I should start a new thread).

TomTom ver 6 is about the best GPS software your gona get on a N80 with symbian, if the nokia had windows ce, you could get the latest tomtom with latest maps and cameras etc. as it has`nt, I would put the phone on the floor, in a nice comfortable position, squat over it and then shit on it.😃
