1 GB Sandisk RS-MMC Card not recognised

Hi,

Two problems with my 6682. First of all, I bought a 1GB Sandisk and the phone is not detecting it at all. The card is good because my PC is seeing it fine. Secondly, I have a Motorola HS820 bluetooth headset, and while the phone is seeing it, it's not responding to any of the commands from the headset. Anyone out there know what to do?

Thanks!

Try to format it with your phone. As I am correct there is a Memory Card option in the Organiser menu on your phone which can format your memory card... Otherwise the memory card isn't compatible with your phone, but I don't think so.

About the bluetooth headset, I really don't know much about that so i can't help you with it 😉

The 6682 requires a Dual-Voltage (DV) RS-MMC card (or an "MMCmobile" type card).

That's because dual-voltage cards can operate in devices that use approximately 1.8V (Volts) or 3.3V, and the 6682 can only work with cards that support 1.8V.

Older devices use 3.3V.

Your SanDisk is probably a single-voltage (also called high-voltage) RS-MMC, so it only supports the 3.3V range, which means that it doesn't work in a 6682.

Your only option is return (or sell) the SanDisk card, and get a new DV RS-MMC/MMCmobile card, instead.

It sucks that it wont support normal cards, it could have resources to support, but nokia wants to get money :frown:

Requiring 1.8V probably reduces manufacturing cost (by not having to build in support for also 3.3V cards), and saves energy (battery) so you get longer usage time (higher voltages = more power needed).

Nokia doesn't get any more money when you buy memory cards from some other company.

You'd think that I'd read the specs on the damn card before purchasing. My fault....the phone can't take it.... Need to get a low voltage card.... sheesh!
