Aren't screensavers just the biggest waste of time and battery life? LCD's don't suffer from phospor burn like CRT's, and blow me sideways, running the screen 24/7 when the phone is in idle mode displaying fancy graphics can only be wasting oodles of power???
Boring I know, but surely it would make more sense to power down the display?
I agree, they might look pretty for the first 10mins.
But I thought the idea of a screen saver was that you weren't using the device, so the screen saver was there to save power.
I went to bed with a full battery and woke up and my phone was dead!?!

True, thats why i dont have any (but the nokia one) on my phone anymore.
It really drains the battery fast.

Yeah... I was soooo impressed with that Matrix screensaver, but it will take over half the battery life in a few hours. Makes you wonder how the Nebuchadnezzar ever managed to hover around for so long, doesn't it? 😉
The standard Nokia screensaver does power down most of the display, so it's quite efficient.
Yep, I have it switched so that it turns on after 1 minute. It save me tons of battery power! A good way to make your phone last longer than 1 or 2 days on one charge!
It sure is a waste of time and battery life. At it also takes up valuable storage space for other more useful applications and programs.

...as boring as it sounds... mine bit the bullet as soon as I posted the first message in this thread... Back to the ye olde Nokia jumpin' bar which is currently showing the number of missed calls...
with the backlight off you can see diddly squat on the display anyways (unless it's v.bright or sunny outside)

I agree that screensavers like slideshow or animation are useless but I found it useful when screensaver is used together with Extended Profiles, i.e. to have one screensaver for Meeting, one for Silent, etc. so you will know the state of your phone all the time.
