OK, like the subject says... this thread is for technophiles only! I was messing about with my phone/BT/PCs yesterday, and I finally got everything set up to my satisfaction. As it was the first time I had the full functionality of BT, and all of the latest programs to mess about with, I had reason to be impressed...
I was sitting on my bed, playing songs on my PC by the power vested in me by Bemused... I then wanted to check my mail, so I connected my phone to the web, via my ADSL connection on my PC. Yeah, I could have done it on my PC, but I had some files that I wanted to view on my phone. A little later, I get a multi media message from my friend, with a picture of the front seat of his car, and a short clip of Limp Bizkit saying "keep rolling, rolling, rolling!" I take this to mean he's asking if I want to go for a drive around for a while, which I do. So, we're cruising around, and I get a text from another friend in Oz who I happen to be coding some web pages for... he's told me that the database structure for the web site has been posted on the test page... can I take a look? So, I go back to my house, and go to download. Meanwhile, me and my friend have been asked to join a little gathering of friends... we've got to leave now, but I have to get this structure downloaded, edit my pages, and send it back. So what do I do? Grab my laptop, and jump back in the car. I would use the WAP browser on my phone to access this page to check out the DB structure, edit the pages on my laptop, BT them over to the phone, then email. But I thought I'd do it the funkier way... I connected to the web via the 7650, then to my laptop via BT, and BAM... we're going down the motorway at about 60, and I'm sitting in the back with my feet up, surfing the web. This means I can publish my freshly-coded web pages straight from Interdev, cutting the time needed to upload pages to the minimum.
This is an over-the-top example of technologies becoming truly merged with other, newew technologies. I know you're all probably going to think I'm a sad techno-freak, but I wanted to share this with you, in the hope that at least one person will reply with "yeah man, i had this set-up, isn't it cool?" or something similar!
Much respect to Ashley (mental_blank?) for Bemused... in the world of home-grown Symbian programs, you da man baby!
