Hi

Silly question but it is important as to what directory the downloads are put and do you need to download one at a time or can I download all the files in one go and run one at a time.

It doest matter where you download them, but probably easier to download into one folder, and would advise you to download all before you start ther update

Just follow instructions in this thread EXACTLY
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/46864/
and you will install without problems

I note from another reply that I need v.o8 firmware instructions also say I need miro_3.0617.0.6_prd_western_C00_cc.fpsx from V01 download does this mean I need to download V01 as well as V08.

well V01 also has UK english so you can use either really, I used V01 on my N80, but its up to you, I dont know what the difference between the packs, but I guess english would be in most of them along with other languges for different areas of the world, as far as I know thse are just language packs.

One further question I have downloaded all the files up th the V01 firmware, in the same download directory is the file ending C00_cc.fspx do I download this file aswell, I note in the instructions that you should 'Choose the .FPSX file for the image file' is this the file it relates to.

Bit nervous about this so want to get absolutely correct.

yes it is, when pheonix asks for that file, choose the directory where you downloaded the files an it should be the only one you can choose.

just make sure you follow the instructions exactly,

It took me 4 attepts to install the software correctly, flashing the phone is the easy part 😊

I ran the crack file but did not install then ran the 2004 phoenix install file as soon as it said retry I clicked on retry and then clicked install on the crack file, one dll file could not be created something 32.dll then 2004 install file kept asking to retry. Did you have this problem?

cant remember, but maybe, I know you have to click the crack as quick as you can when it says, I mean real quick otherwise some of the files are not overwritten.

you just have to experiment and see

Thanks for last tip that seemd to work. When I rebooted the PC 2 error messages came up about a dskey not found I clicked okay on both all dll files seemed to load but got an error message saying some files missing. Any ideas re this one.

Apologies for being a pain.

I would just continue following the installation instructions and see what happens, it may be that some files are changes by the crack and it doesnt see them.

Ya this happened to me, i just ignored it, and everything went ok, dont worry, just open phoenix, select the files and start flashing

I have just got to the stage where I am trying to flash the phone and I get the following error message.

The mode setting request failed
Transition to requested mode is not allowed
HRESULT 0X80043005(-2147209211)

Does this mean anything to you.

Not sure, cant help with this one, it was over 3 weeks ago when I flashed mine and I cant recall that

Make sure that u have installed phoenix 2006, that error means that phoenix cant recognize the model of the phone

Hi

Just checked phoenix and it says that the software version is 2006.12.5.136

Just checked the screenshot as shown on dogtoe all is the same except the operating mode is blank and I get the same error message if I try to change it to manual.

Also in the line at the bottom when I scan the phone all seems correct except it says V 05wk33v29, 28-04-06 v3.0617.0.6 03.05.2006

Any ideas

Neil

Dont understand but says the version is latest i.e. V3.0617.06

Either I am going of my head or something amazing has happened.

Neil

Checked when purchased sure it said old version.

Decided to crawl away discreetly and get new brain instead.

Thanks all for your help.

Will get retraining as intelligent being.

Neil

said it was a silly question in the first place.

I still get low memory message when I open some PDF files as far as you know are there still some problems with opening PDF files or do you think that it could still be operator error. It is not all files but this files is only 214kB.
Is that large?

Neil

well, ive never opened a pdf file on it, i dont have the app, and the only one i know its for an e61, but try to browse the web, you should not have low memory errors on it

Also try taking a photo and then when viewing zoom in and out, this quite often seemed to cause a low memory error with the old firmware.

If you dont get these to probelms then I think you should be OK.

Hi

I have zoomed in as you sais and only managed to zoom in twice before I got the low memory error.

Also have you seen my other thread with the following?

1. Whilst using the the Music player if someone calls me only half of their name appears on the screen before I answer the call

2. The phone appears to lock up and I have a white screen with Nokia displayed. This happens either whilst in standby or has happened once whilst on a call and the call is cut off. I have to restart by either completely shutting down and restartin or sometimes by pressing the power button a couple of times I then cannot seem to read any data on my 1Gb memory card (purchased from mymemory) until I power down the phone and restart. All the data the appears to be visible.

Hmm, not sure what to say, since I upgraded my phone I dont have any problems you mention, apart from very occasionally I get white screen (I think we should name this the white screen of death (WSOD) in hommage to its very distant cousin Microsofts Blue screen of death (BSOD)) and have to take out battery and restart, but I can live with this.

Following my debacle over the upgrade, one thought crossed my mind. When I replaced the phone recently at the carphone warehouse they said at the time it was the old firmware and thinking on I did not double check this before I tried the upgrade.

Would it be possible that the phone could have been the old firmware and that it is showing the latest firmware as a result of my attempt to upgrade but is still running the old firmware.

Grasping at straws I know, but the thought of having to go back to carphone warehouse and explain any problems fills me with dread.

Cant you try re-installing the firmware again

The update seemed to start and failed last time could try will look at later, thanks for the minute.

By the way did you read my bit about seeing half a name when listening to music player, have you heard of this one?
