ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the game, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!

To elaborate: Monkey Islands, Indiana Joneses, Day of the Tentacle etc. adventure classics can be run with scummvm, as they are all based on the same scumm engine. I just started playing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. 😊

which scumm version to use Makkara, S60 v2 ?

Nokia N80 uses S60 3rd edition, which is not backwards compatible (thus programs developed for earlier S60 phones won't work without recompiling). I downloaded "scummvm-060611-SymbianS60v3_all.sis".

Yea I just saw it, my eyes were not working earlier when I was looking at the versions to download..

Cheers

Hi could any1 hazard a guess to why the scummV.sis wont work on my n80.

I have the v3.0617.0.6 Firmware

When i try and open the file its says "installation of scummVm.sis is not supported:frown: :frown: :frown:

Im a complete novice so any help would be most appreciated:icon14:

^^ same im even more novice i dont even no wat firmwire i have..its the same 1 that i got from vodafone

You can find your phones firmware version by entering *#0000# on the phone while it is in standby. :icon14:

You've downloaded the right file, right? It is imperative that there's a "v3" in the filename.

Maybe you've turned on (or maybe it's the default option in some operatorspecific firmware) the option to only allow installation of symbian signed applications?

I downloaded this 1 from the link,The very 1st 1 in the link

scummvm-060611-SymbianS60v1_all.sis

That is indeed the wrong file. It's meant for Series 60 1st edition (v1 refers to that). As I've mentioned before, the file you need to download is:
scummvm-060611-SymbianS60v3_all.sis

Im very sorry i just realised this..I have now downloaded and installed the program:icon14:

Is it possible now to play games like the 1s you have been playing?

Yes, it is 😊

Just upload the game to your phone, and tell ScummVM to scan for games automatically, or alternatively you can set the path manually.

What is the exact error message? Although you have the older firmware, I doubt it would have an effect. Check your phone settings on installing applications (make sure that non-symbian signed programs can be installed, consult your phone manual).

well if yr refering to the software installation option, i have it set to software install ALL and online certif check OFF...and its still not working :bawling:

Sorry if this is really obvious, i have had a wee look on various forums but cant find the answer. I have d/l the v3 scuum on my phone but cant find any games for it. I tried beneath the steal sky but i dont think it was the right file and couldnt transfer it to my n80.

Ideally i'd like to get monkey island, but cant find it etc.

Could someone please help, very new to this.

Cheers in advance.

You can download Beneath a Steel Sky at http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php I haven't tried it for myself, but I suppose you'll need the following files:
Beneath a Steel Sky, SKY.CPT - required to run the game with a post-0.7.* ScummVM (416k)
Beneath a Steel Sky, Freeware Floppy Version (7.3M)

Alternatively you may download the CD version, but it takes a bunch of space.

Unlike Beneath a Steel Sky, most old games, eg. Monkey Islands, are not freeware. To play them, you'll have to buy them.

Hi,

I've downloaded and installed ScummV for the very first time. I get the welcome menu that allows to scan for games but not sure how to select 'Auto Scan' or 'No Thanks' Can someone advise what keys I need to use navigate around.

Furthermore could anyone suggest where I can download games to work with this application.

Many thanks

You can move a mouse cursor with the keys used to browse the normal menus of the phone.

For the reasons mentioned earlier, no.
You can move a mouse cursor with the keys used to browse the normal menus of the phone.

I can see a flashing curson on the top left hand side of the screen. But I'm unable to movie it with any of the keys. Any suggestions? Thanks

Ive been using the front keypad to navigate around fine and then the key above the red key/hang up key to select options!
