Music on the N80 - distorted bass??

6 replies · 2,205 views · Started 25 June 2006

Don't know if this is normal. I tired loading mp3's on my N80 using PC suite. Once loaded, during playback the bass is somewhat distorted. I tried fiddling about with the equaliser but no difference.

I converted the mp3 to the correct format when prompted on pc suite in the hope that it would sound better but no joy. The bass is distorted through the phone speakers and headphones. This is very disappointing as I bought a 2G SD card just to load music in it to go on holiday??

Can anyone help??😡

Not tried converting the MP3 to AAC yet, dragged an MP3 folder over at it plays fine (Ultimate NRG) quality bass through headset.😎
Bin the converted files and send over the MP3's instead and report back to us.

mine its ok, i get a good bass, and when i plug it to my car stereo omg its pretty goood

Excellent..I just transfered the mp3 files rather than converting and now the sound quality is superb!

Many thanks guys!

Why bother converting if the quality of the sound is so poor!! stupid aac mp4 files!!!😡

The default AAC setting is set to 48 kbps. If you up it to at least 96 kbps then it should be fine.

Wirelessly posted (NOKIA 6630: NokiaN80-1/3.0 (3.0617.0.5) Series60/3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

i use wma files encoded at 128kbps and 44khz set to stereo, i use my n80 alot 4 music and use it with my sony STR DB790 DTS-ES amp and it sounds superb with the EQ set to pop, it even sounds beats my dedicated mp3 player!

Converting to AAC (using the default settings produces some fairly medium quality music, especially when transcoding from mp3). The advnatage is that you get smaller file sizes and thus more music per mb of space used.

You'll do better with higher bit rates as mentioned (change in the options of music manager).
