Nothing happens when I open my softwares!

I just got my E61 and like other phones, they have preinstalled programs you can use. It has a cool software called World Mate. First time I opened it no problem occured, but when I tried to open it a second or third time, my E61 doesn't seem to give the open command! Even when I chose "open" from the "option" menu nothing happens.

How can I open these programs?

This should open like any other program. If it doesn't I would advise you to restart the phone and try again. If that doesn't work you could try re-installing the program. You can download the sis file using Catalogs or from the Nokia support site.

Thank you for your reply.

I reset the phone several times and still no success. I will reinstall the softwares tonight and Il'l keep you posted.

I reinstalled my softwares and I still have the same problem, they wont open!

I also tried reformating my phone and I still can't open World Mate, Golf, etc. Can anyone help please!?

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Not sure what the origianl problem was but a fresh install files does sometimes help if something got corrupted.

Hi Ignition101

I am experiencing a similar problem; however, my Worldmate died on me on the 10 th day, after I installed it (today). 😞

Can you help me by describing the steps you followed and the URL for downloading the software.

Thank you for your help.

I did had the same problem,
only mu solution was very simple.

The software I had installed on my MMC-Card
didn't work anymore.

Wenn I (in the correct way) removed my MMC-Card
and put it in again. Everything worked again...

May Be the same problem?
(wenn the software didn't start I could access all other
thing on my MMC-Card...!)

Hi Folks

Thank you for your help. I resolved it by using the catalog on the E61 and downloading the software once more and then installing it.

It feels very similar to using microsoft's products 😊.

I have similar problem with my Nokia E61 and have posted another thread earlier. Anyway, did any one try switching off the phone and then powering up again? Will most of the applications hang?

The way out for me so far is to remove any of the applications and/or reinstalling another random application into the phone. But I have to repeat the same thing again everytime I turn off the phone and then on again....

My applications are mainly stored in the memory card.

Can anyone offer a better solution?

Thanks.

The only solution I found for this problem is like every one said, delete the old installer file and replace it with a new one that can be found on:

http://www.europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,89917,00.html

You could replace the file directly onto your memory card via the USB cable included in the box or you could use Nokia PC Suite to install your software without copying the file on your E61.

Try not turning off your phone if it makes the problem come back. Best thing to do is leave it on standby and lock your keypad or put it on silent if you wish. The E61 has a long battery life so I don't see the use of turning it off anyway's.

What do you actually mean by installer file? Do you mean the "world mate" and other applications software found in the website? I have tried re-installing Adobe PDF before but same problem persists after power off-on. Or is the worldmate causing the problem?

I need to turn off the phone when I take a plane so this would be a problem.

Another way I found to get around this is to remove the miniSD card and reinsert again while phone is powered up.

Any other suggestions from fellow members out there?

Thanks.

Good idea tchang! I never taught of removing the memory card... Now I know why they give you a box for the memory card

What I mean by installer is the file you use to install the software. Worldmate for example uses the Worldmate.sis file to install. Usually it comes already stored on the memory card.

Hi Ignition101,
I used a new mini SD card (1GB) today and reloaded applications like Worldmate and PDF (downloaded from the Nokia site) into the new memory card. Problem solved! No more hangup issues with power on-off.

Donno if it is due to previous memory card or a faulty worldmate application...

Anyway, thanks for your earlier inputs!
