I bought a new motor in April and it had a Nokia car kit fitted for a 6230....my phone at the time was a 6630, so I have decided to keep the kit and hopefully when Nokia pull their finger out I will buy a N80 cradle.
PROBLEM.....it seems the car kit works spot on with a 6230, it mutes the radio and voice comes through the speakers, I attached the N80 to the pop port cable and it works different....no mute and voice comes from a speaker behind glove box. GUTTED! Same with the 6630.
Does this mean I would have to upgrade the whole kit for it to work as it should? Or is there another option?
Car Kit Woes
maybe its the buetooth profile of the car kit

I don't think the kit has a bluetooth option, so must be an earlier kit???
I checked the options on the phone, they are limited to 3 options with carkit.
I want to do something similar with my CARK-91 Nokia car kit so I can use my N80. I can purchase a Pop Port cradle adapter that's compatable with many Nokia 'phones but no one's been able to tell me if it will work. Based on your experience, it sounds to me as though it will work but with some reservations.
Do you know what car kit you've actually got?
Anyway to answer your question, depending on which kit you've actually got there are companies out there that do Bluetooth adapters that replace the Pop Port cable. Your 'phone then communicates via BT rather than a hard-wired solution, but still uses the original car kit. The only problems are that the phone won't then charge in the car, and you can't utilse the external aerial.

Pass, can't tell without ripping half the dash out, I have noticed it does not have a Nokia logo imprinted on the cable....does that mean this is aftermarket unit with a genuine Nokia 6230 cradle?
