Hi guys, my first post so be gentle,

I am using the video mode on my N80 which I think is great, annoyingly there is an alert tone when starting and finishing recording! Has anyone managed or does anyone know how to turn this off?

Thanks

It think it's a security thing. You can override it though, by setting your N80 into 'Silent' profile beforehand.

Eh? Let's get this straight. You put your N80 in Silent mode (the profile, that is) and it still makes a warning tone?

Assuming you're doing the profile right, sounds like a firmware bug. Can anyone else confirm?

Steve

Yes I tried this in silent mode and it still made the tone, there goes my plans of making secret videos of the missus..

I think you might have to turn keypad noises off in the profile screen, this stopped my camera from making the shutter noise.

tried the keypad tones, warning tones, all tone settings I can find! But the alert tone still plays out, I am on old firmware so will try an upgrade ASAP and see if that makes a difference.

cheers

I have the very latest firmware and it makes not the slightest difference, you can't get rid of the tone. Not that it bothers me.

Ive had a look and there is no option, I would have thought it would have been there as they have included shutter tone selection in image setttings, clearly they have not written it into the software.

Things like the video record tone, and the little flash that *ALWAYS* goes off when taking a photo.... are features that CANNOT be disabled....

Thanks Guys

it is a shame though, maybe Nokia will add it to a later firmware! it annoys the hell out of me.
